I think its a mix of both.

He knows chindi sapola awwal number ka kemeena hai. He wants to save her from the troubles sapola will cause. A part of him is also bothered by how she disregards his concerns/reseravations over sapola. Also , a part of him is hurting over their sapola/purvi's perceived closeness.
