Audience deserved this change !

They very fact that our guy is not like any other ITV Male leads is super refreshing. Shaurya's character is written in such a beautiful way that you completely rely on him and at the same time sympathise with him. Knowing that he is the shield yet somewhere he is looking for protection. I can't even start how beautiful and unabashed his flaws are. And at the same time you have to give it to the writers for doing what they did. Also, I think the promos were not misleading because I kind of know that once anokhi and Shaurya fall in love, the misogyny will come out and it will not be him but his sufferings. So I am kind of prepared to see the graph falling and then pacing up. The character has got layers and I am glad it is close to reality.

Now, the change that Audience deserved was having a male lead-

Who doesn't belittle the female lead based on her financial status.

Who doesnt sl*t shame her.

Who doesn't always tell her how she is a village girl and desperate and knows no better.

Who doesn't manhandle woman.

And apparently who doens't pull and push the girl according to his mood.

Also I do want to confess that I still regret liking toxicity years back. I remember how I didnt go all mad on Arnav for treating Khushi the way he did because if it happens in today's television I might turn off the TV and be like Khushi you can't fall for this man no matter how amazing you chemistry is. It's toxic.

And trust me I loved IPKKND and I still do but now I have grown up and have my own mindset.

Similarly there are so many shows that still run on toxicity of male leads and I can only blame the writers as well as the audience because its them who choose what to see.

Well written.

He is a lead with his own sets of faults but we will relate with him.

I didnt watch ipk when it used to air but after 4-5 years and even though i love the chemistry, that was the worst representation of love!

I used to watch na bole tum years back and its male lead was some what like this. He used to speak, has his faults ,past but never manhandles or depict any wrong sense of idol. Though the story turned pathetic🤦

So enjoying this lead till it lasts!

Most of these traits can't be shown for Shaurya's charcater cause he is professor 😆. If he had these traits, ppl would have protested as to what kind of professor he is. This is why creatives were smart about it and kept all these traits away. But if this was a guy of Anokhi's age with mom issues, I would'nt be surprised if he had these traits.

You are right that shaurya is a professor and they can't really show him behaving that way.

But to be very honest, I dont really expect in serials that the writers or CV's will dive deep and think about it. So not miliking it up and there could have been so many instances where they could have shown Shaurya grabbing Anokhi's shoulders or hurting her just because she chose to speak about his mother or he could have gone to village mentality but trust me I was happily surprised when nothing of that sort happened.

You see I think, a major section of audience specially girls (teenagers) they find the rawness and passion in scenes of manhandling and they feel fascinated about it, that's why they run so much.

So, yeah the creatives were not only smart but thoughtful as well.

Exactly!!

Also be ready for the mysogeny and a bit patriarchic approach because we wouldn't be able to blame the writers then since they did warn us.

I just hope they dont ruin the story since I don't think they will be able to take away much about how we feel about the characters.

I am ok with that approach. Look! He didnt hide his approach in front of shagun. As one want a working wife, some want rich men and other categorization, he is asking for a house wife. Though yes his luck that this time love might be involved but, that is not a wrong demand! Us n kisi working women ko ghar par nhi bithaya!

Hum n kuch words ko bauhaut zyada hype kr k negative connotation mn daal dya hai!

Hmm interesting.. funny enough I was thinking about the other day of all the shows I watched and the Male Lead’s representation. I used to watch IPPKND which I absolutely loved and adored due to I guess was SaRun’s chemistry on screen plus was too good.

but Shaurya is something else. His character is just brilliant! Like someone mentioned, you can rely on his character that he will make things right!

I think them making sure Shaurya doesn’t overstep and man handle Anokhi is a very conscious and well executed choice of the writers that i really hope they stick too. If we think about it, Anokhi has been dictated and manhandled by men (mainly her father) all her life. Bringing in Shaurya to her life as someone who distinctly DOESN’T do those things, not only sets him apart of what a man is like to Anokhi’s but also from other men on the show. Not to mention the fact that it is soooo refreshing to see a man who is so in tune with the concept of personal space and consensual touches. Every time he initiates contact with her, he seems to be as awkward and uncomfortable as she is and he apologizes! It makes me admire him (and makes me jealous of Anokhi LOL 😂)

Right ! Like I didn't thought that way but that too makes sense, showing Shaurya as a man who distinctly doesnt do those things as well as always apologise for touching her without her consent.

Also, you see Shaurya is not only a liberating character that way for the television but in general as well.

Ps- I am full on crushing on him ☺️
