I know there is no forum for this show yet but I wanted everyone here to see this Battle Round clip from Indian Pro Music League.

It was the first Match: Delhi vs Punjab and this final round was between Rupali Jagga (Punjab) and Ankush (Delhi).

It crazy to see how far our Idol alumni has come, legit killed it! But Rupali also gave solid takkar!

Rupali is amazing!! I didn’t even know who she was, but when I saw this episode I was mind blown!!

Honestly, very impressed to see how far Ankush has come. But Rupali stole the show.

And while we’re talking about it, how good was Neha Bhasin!!! She’s got a very powerful voice. I remember watching the auditions for Channel V popstars when they formed the band Viva!!

Honestly whoever mixed the audio on this should be fired because when I watched it on TV I couldn't hear Ankush, only the drums! I was thinking wtf happened to his voice 🤣

So I went on Zee5 and heard it on earphones. Rupali was on SRGMP and she had auditioned for Idol too some years ago. But for me it was Ankush who won, that last ka 15 seconds was hard to beat...unfortunately their sound engineer f**ked it up since his voice was at a lower volume throughout the performance.

He's really come a long way honestly...the most growth after Idol has been his. And I couldn't imagine him singing such a song because of his voice texture. Neha Bhasin's reaction was mine honestly, the way she jumped 😆 Even Mika rushed on stage to hug him.

Neha is also brilliant man, she's the superior Neha for sure 😆 Deserves much more recognition for sure. Viva was super iconic, they should've continued as a band at least for a couple of years. They had also sung for Bollywood: one song for AR Rahman in Lakeer and another song for Anand-Milind in Rakht...I hope Neha sings "Quiero" from Rakht in IMPL, it would fit in the theme of the show very well.

But its sad only she and Anushka Manchanda made it, I have no idea where the other three girls are.

I watched it on ZEE5 too.

I didn’t watch a lot of Ankushs season, but I remember him. But if I were to only hear him, I wouldn’t say it’s the same Ankush. His growth is phenomenal.

I don’t remember seeing Rupali on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa, but then again I didn’t watch any season regularly.
yes, Ankush in the end was fantastic, but I still enjoyed Rupali overall. But can’t deny they have both set high benchmarks. I’m glad you guys spoke about this show otherwise I wouldn’t have watched it.

About Viva, Seema Ramchandani (the one who left), is now based out of Hongkong, and sings bhajans for the Sadhu Vaswani mission and art of living. Infact I’ve seen her perform at the Sadhu Vaswani mission in Pune a few times.

Mahua Kamat has completely disappeared too.

I thought Pratichee Mohapatra sang a song or two for Bollywood. But maybe I’m mistaken. I also think I read that she moved to acting. I haven’t watched her but I remember reading.

Ankush was the only recent Idol alumini who has that star like aura and the cutest part was he had no idea he exhibited that aura 😆

I just checked, Rupali auditioned for Indian Idol in 2012 and later was a finalist on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa in 2016. Thats where she got the 'Indian Shakira' tag.

I am glad u genuinely watched it, respect! Lets see who wins this round.

I looked up Mahua Kamat's instagram, I think she is a full time mom now. Her daughter turned 12 last year so I feel her focus is on family. Looks like Neha is the only one who's most known, followed by Anushka.

The band did have a reunion recently:

Thank you thank you thank you for posting this! I have been dying to talk about this performance since the weekend!! I can't even count the number of times I have watched this face-off, literally chills every time!!

I have a soft spot for Ankush and he was remarkable, but even I think Rupali overpowered him in this performance.

Honestly, Punjab has a whole gave a solid competition to Delhi. Who do you think will win this round? I am rooting for Delhi, but I think Punjab is likely to get more votes.

@Bold: I thought I was the only one who thought this! Honestly, Ankush can project such a powerful voice when the song requires it but the audio mixing was messed up! I thought I was just being biased. 😆

@Red: All the appreciation that Ankush is getting makes my heart swell with pride and admiration. Even after his performance on Chumma De De and Gandi Baat with Sajid Khan, the radio jockeys acknowledged that he should have sang solo or at least led the performance. I threw my hands in the air when I heard that. 🙌🏼

Tbh, they should have chosen a better song than Chumma and Gandi Baat for that performance. They performed well, but the song selection put them at a disadvantage.

It’s honestly a duel of equals. Very difficult to say who will win.
Im torn between the two, thank God I can’t vote! I wouldn’t know who to vote for.

Though I’d say overall, Delhi has a slight edge. Asees Kaur paled in comparison to Neha!! And Mika was so - so.

I am putting both ur comments in one reply because that way would be easier for me, I hope its okay with u?? :D

OMG ur reaction makes me sooooo dang happy!! That yayyyiiee someone has the same level of enthusiasm as me!!! I might've seen it some 50 times and even heard it while working out, as imma trying to loose weight 🤣 Plus Ankush and Rupali are super fit so its extra motivation 🤣

The first time I saw him properly was on Times of Music and then Indian Idol reruns so in the short time I've 'known' him I've had a soft spot for him too. He comes across as a genuinely nice person too 😃❤️

Imo Mika and Sajid are both not very great singers, in fact Wajid was supposed to be there too shows that Sajid would've been just for support while Wajid would've sung the songs...okay now I am getting emotional If we compare the two teams despite that

Sajid > Mika

Neha > Asees for sure

Ankush was definitely better than Rupali imo, not my biases but the audio levels were so f**ed up.

I was gonna reply to u on @bold but then realised u also felt the audio was an issue! Ankush has learned to modulate his voice greatly, he could sing these two songs with ease in 2018...imagine the improvement in his voice after 3 whole years:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AR7TdEd-sCI

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BMEpZtIFlw

And from 3:57 of this vid :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67WdOvBpkZ8

So the sound engineer should be fired for sure, it was technical sabotage and not fair to both the contenders. I'd have felt the same if the technician had messed up Rupali's voice too.

@red: I had to control my emotions because I was watching with my parents...the last thing I wanted them to think is me having a crush on him 🤣 But I still jumped when he did the 15 second stretch at the end, that for me made him win the round ⭐️

There were a bunch of Sajid Wajid songs they could've chosen, esp from Partner and Rowdy Rathore...that could be their zone of disadvantage

Other than that I don't feel the shayri was needed...Rupali wasted approx 45 seconds instead of singing...and our boy was busy interrupting her I LMAOed 🤣 Technically Ankush sang more than Rupali since she chose to do a shayri.

But I feel Delhi really outperformed Punjab...still salty about the audio situation tho 😆

Thank you for giving those videos as examples. I was thinking about those performances too when I realized that Ankush can modify his voice as needed for the song. Especially his performance on Yamma Yamma, remember? 👇🏻

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKJACozQ1do

I'm really glad that you think Delhi outperformed Punjab. I really enjoyed Delhi's performance too, but I'm just kinda anxious I guess.... Thank god I can't vote either 😆

Also, I'm catching as much of the season 10 reruns as I can right now, and you were right! This season is just amazing! I think Salman and Nitin are kinda overrated (good but overrated), but other than that, it's much more enjoyable. Lots of it has been edited (including some of Ankush's performances which is disappointing), but that is both a blessing and curse, cuz lots of Neha's comments have been edited as well. Plus, Manish is a much better anchor than Aditya. I actually laugh uncontrollably at his jokes. I only wish he wouldn't get too handsy with the contestants or their friends (like Kunal's gang).

I think Sajid and Ankush sang on Gandi Baat as a reply to Mika's challenge from the super match. He sang songs of other musicians and challenged them to sing his songs in the league matches. Still, they could have chosen a better song of Mika's too.

You're right about Rupali's shayri. That does mean that Ankush sang more, doesn't it? I didn't even think about that. I was scared that he didn't sing enough because Rupali took over the lyrics towards the end before he began his alaap. And my god, that alaap was goosebump inducing!! That's how you take an alaap without screaming. I'm so proud!! 👏🏻
