(Vithal agreed to Virat’s idea of sending Kamal Sir and Jagtaap at the same time, but he did sense that Virat had planned something else. Kamal Sir and Jagtaap started to walk. As soon as they reached the midpoint, Virat signaled Kamal Sir to bring Jagtap to his knees, and Virat started running towards them. Vithal, on the other hand, started shooting. Jagtaap tried to run away, but Virat shot him in his left leg. Jagtaap fell on the ground with a gun pointed towards him, so Vithal and the gang had to surrender themselves to save Jagtaap.)

Virat: Kya socha tha? Police bina planning ke aayegi, aur tujh jaise chapri gunde ke saamne ghutne tek degi? Bahut ho gaya tera drama, ab puri zindagi jail mein beetegi teri aur tere baap ki. Arrest karo dono ko. (Virat commands Karan and team.)

(Jagtaap picks up the dirt, and throws it on Virat’s face which makes him lose his sight and balance for a few moments. Meanwhile, Jagtaap gets his gun and points at Virat. Right when he was about to shoot Kamal Sir comes in between and takes the bullet, which was meant for Virat, on his chest. Virat is not able to process what had just happened and he hears a scream: ABBAAAAAA!!!!! A young girl's voice comes from the back. The police team captures everyone and arrests them. Sai runs to her Abba who was on the ground clutching his chest where he was shot.)

Sai: Abba!! Aap ko kuch nahin ho ga main hoon na? Aapki Sai yahin hain Abba! Virat Sir aap dekh kya rahe hain? Abba ko hospital le ke chaliye. Rahul Sir ambulance bulayie!

(Virat is not able to get the hang of the situation, but Sai deals with it with utmost composure, and does everything she needs to ensure Abba's safety. She had full control over her feelings for the moment.)

(Change Of Scene)

(Kamal Sir is admitted in the hospital. Sai, Virat, and others are waiting outside of the operation theatre room praying to God for a positive outcome. Virat, on the other hand, is continuously receiving calls from Pakhi, which he keeps declining. He then puts his phone on silent, and puts his phone back in his pocket. This doesn’t go unnoticed by Sai, but the situation was too tense to say anything.)

Virat: Sai... 

(Virat walks up to Sai and tries to talk to her to console her, but she pushes him away.)

Sai: Jab main itne dino se bol rahi thi ki Abba ka retirement aap postpone mat kijiye, aur jaane dijiye hummee Nagpur tab meri kisi ne nahin sunni. Dekh liya na aapne kis haal mein hain mere Abba. Aur unki yeh haalat ki sirf aap ho. Na aap yahan aate, na Abba ka retirement postpone hota, aur na Abba is condition mein hote. Agar mere Abba ko kuch bhi hua na Virat Sir, main aapko khabhie maaf nahin karungi.

(Sai almost teared up, but then controlled herself as she had to remain strong in this situation for her Abba. Virat was taken back by her accusation, and thinks how his equation with Sai changed in a matter of seconds. However, he understood her situation and pain, as Kamal Sir was Sai’s entire world. She is on the verge of losing everything, and no matter what she says, he will not leave her side. Few minutes later, the doctor comes out of the room and calls Virat to meet Kamal Sir  because he was calling him. Virat goes telling Usha Maushi to look after Sai in the meantime.)

(Change of Scene)

(Kamal Sir was calling Virat’s name, and Virat went and sat beside him.)

Virat: Sir! Aap ko kuch nahin ho ga. Aap toh Sai ke hero ho aur mere Guru! Aap hi ne sikhaya hain na ki himmat nahin harni khabhie? Toh aapko ladna ho ga kudh ke liye bhi, aur Sai ke khatir bhi.

Kamal Sir: Bahut lad liya Sir. Bahut khush hoon ki maine apni duty kartey hue apni zindagi qurbaan ki. Lekin dukh is baat ka hain ki ek pita ki zimedari main puri nahin kar paaya. Mera meri Sai ke alawa aur koi nahin hain. Aur main janta hoon ki woh khudh ko sambhalne ke liye akeli kaafi hain. Woh iss duniya se ladna jaanti hain. Lekin uske aage uski puri zindagi padi hain. Aur main nahin chahata ussey khabhie kisi bhi mod pe aisa lage ki uske liye koi nahin hain. Isiliye Sir main aap se ek vaada chahata hoon. Main chahata hoon ki aap meri beti ka zindagi bhar khayal rakhiye. Uska har mod pe saath dijiye. Aaj main aap se apni guru dakshina maang raha hoon. Main bahut ache tareeke se janta hoon ki meri beti ke liye aap se behetar aur koi ho hi nahin sakta. Usko kisi apne ki zaroorat hain jo mere jaane ke baad ussey sambhal sake. Mujhe pura yakeen hain ki woh aap kar paayenge. Kya yeh meri aakhri icha puri kar sakte hain aap?

(Kamal Sir says losing his breath, and Rirat remembers how Kamal Sir took the bullet for him without a second thought. He then places his hand on Kamal Sir’s hand.)

Virat: Main vaada karta hoon ki main Sai ka hamesha khayal rakhunga!

(As soon as Virat promises Kamal sir, he takes his last breath with a smile on his face.)

Virat: Kamal Sir!

(Virat yells his name, but no response. The doctors tell him that he is no more, which comes as a shock to Virat. He still manages to gather his courage and goes to tell Sai.He knew dealing with this situation will not be easy, but he decides to stay by her side through it all.)

Virat: Sai!

(Virat takes her inside as she continues to talk, but is left shocked seeing the monitor and the white cloth placed on Kamal Sir’s body.)

Sai: Virat Sir! Sab theek toh hain na? Abba ne kya kaha? Woh na aisa hi kartey hain mere saath. Mujhe pareshaan karne ke liye zaroor meri shikayat ki hogi ki meri beti nahin aayi bach gaye woh mujhe humesha daanti rehti hain. Naraaz honge na mujh se woh? Boliye na. Lekin phir Abba ko aise kyun litaaya hain? Abba ki saansein kyun nahin chal rahi? Aapke hospital mein kuch theek hain bhi ya nahin? Mujhe inhe kahin aur leke jaana chahiye tha! Abba aap ko kuch nahin ho ga, main aapko kahin aur le ke chalti hoon. 

(Sai loses her senses, and is not able to come to accept the reality that her Abba is no more. Virat holds her tight, and yells!)

Virat: Sai!! Inspector Kamal Joshi is no more!!!

(Virat says in a high tone, so Sai can accept the reality. Sai falls down hearing this, but gets up and goes to Kamal sir’s body and cries once again.)

Sai: Aise kaise aap mujhe chod ke jaa sakte hain? Aapne promise kiya tha na ki aap humesha mere saath rahenge aur mujhe doctor banta dekhenge? Toh aise kaise aap mujhe chod ke chale gaye? Abba uthiye na, aapki Sai ko aapki zaroorat hain!

(Sai cries uncontrollably! Virat goes to her, and places his hand on Sai’s shoulder. However, Sai jerks him away and glares at him as if warning him to stay away from her and her father. Her glare was still making him the cause of her father’s death.  Virat understood, and asked Usha Maushi to take care of Sai. He wanted her to take Sai outside.)

Part 7 - Life Changes:

(1 week later)

(For almost an entire week, Virat did not meet Sai. He wanted to give her the space she needed after such a big loss. He knew that her father was her entire world; however, he also knew that he couldn’t even leave her alone in such a state. On the contrary, Sai did not want to see him at all. Hence, Virat told Usha Maushi to take of her, and that he will be around so she can call him whenever needed.)

(Sai, on the other hand, is crying looking at her Abba’s picture.)

Sai: Abba, aap mujhe aise akela kyun chod ke gaye? Aap jaante the na ki aapki jaan ko khatra aur mera aapke siwa koi nahin hain phir bhi aap ne meri baat nahin maani aur apni jaan ko khatre mein daal diye. Kiske liye? Virat Sir ke liye? Aap ne apni beti ko akela chod diya uss Virat Sir ke liye? (Sai continues to cry, and suddenly feels Abba's presence. She calls out to him.)

Kamal Sir: Bala, tujhse kisne kaha ki main tujhe chod ke chala gaya? Main toh humesha tere saath hoon har pal har waqt. Peheli baat toh rona band kar. Tu meri bahadur bachi hain. Tu mera gurur hain aur tu hi aise kamzor padegi toh tu apne aur mere sapne ko pura kaise karegi? Tujhe humare doctor ban ne ka. Dusri baat, agar Virat Sir ki jagah aur koi bhi hota toh bhi main wahi karta joh maine kiya kyun ki woh mera farz tha, meri duty thi. Aur uss duty ke rehete, ek baap ka farz main pura nahin kar paaya. Main ek acha police officer toh ban gaya, par ek acha baap nahin ban paaya. Uske liye mujhe maaf kar dena. Lekin aise rona mat, jab jab tujhe lage ki tu kamzor par rahi hain, tab tab unn sab sapno ke baare mein sochna joh tu ne dekhe hain. Woh zindagi joh tujhe chahiye thi kudh ke liye. Humesha jeena teri khushi ke liye.

Sai: Lekin meri khushi toh aap the Abba. Mera toh sab kuch aap hi toh the. Ab mere sapne, meri khushiyon ka koi fayda nahin. Kyun ki aap hi mere saath nahin ho.

Kamal Sir: Bala. Aisa nahin hota. Zindagi jeeni padhti hain. Kisi ke jaane ki wajah se humari zindagi rukhni nahin chahiye. Chahe phir woh koi bhi kyun na ho. Main bhi. Khabhie kudh ke liye, toh kahbhie dusron ke liye tujhe apni zindagi ka maksad poora karna ho ga. Apna sapna poora karna ho ga tujhe. 

Sai: Abba, aapki khushi ke liye main kuch bhi kar sakti hoon. Aur aapka sapna main zaroor poora karungi. Aapki bahadur beti hoon na, main kamzor nahi parungi!

(Sai was about to touch Kamal Sir, but he vanishes. Sai breaks down, and starts crying.)

(Change of Scene)

(Virat finally gathered the courage to meet her, as it has been a whole week. He wanted to check himself if she is actually fine because he knows she will not show it to anyone how emotionally disturbed she is. She will pretend to be strong. But to Virat's surprise, Sai visits his house.)

Virat: Sai! Tum? Yahan? Sab theek toh hain? Kuch chahiye tumhe? Pehele tum andar aao. Weakness hogi tumhe, khayal joh nahin rakha ho ga tumne. Roh roh ke bura haal kiya ho ga khudh ka. Andar aao, please.

(Sai is surprised at his concern for her, but brushes off the thought. Virat takes her inside his home.)

Virat: Toh batao Sai, tum theek ho?

Sai: Kaisi hogi woh ladki jiski puri duniya uss se chin chuki ho? Mere Abba mere liye sab kuch the. 

(Virat feels the pain Sai is going through, and blames himself for taking Kamal Sir there. For putting his life in danger, and not doing anything about it.)

Virat: Sai, main tumhari position samajh sakta hoon. Aur main yeh bhi maanta hoon ki galti meri hi thi...

Sai: Aapki koi galti nahin thi. Joh meri kismat mein likha tha woh hi hua. Iss mein aap kya kar sakte the? Maafi toh mujhe maangni chahiye. Maine aapko galat samjha, aur itna sunna diya. 

Virat: Tumhe maafi mangne ki koi zaroorat nahin hain Sai. Main janta hoon woh situation tumhare liye kaisi ho gi. Toh please maafi mat maango.

(Sai smiles weakly, and gets up to leave when Virat holds her hand. Sai turns around and looks at him confusingly.)

Virat: Kamal Sir ne jaate jaate mujhe tumhari zimedari di thi aur vaada liya tha ki main tumhara khayal rukhunga. Toh please tumhe kuch bhi chahiye ho ya koi bhi baat karni ho toh please mujhe bata dena. 

(Sai smiles.)

Sai: Abba ne kaha hain toh karna padega lekin uski koi zaroorat nahin hogi. Mere Abba ne mujhe itna kaabil banya hain ki main khudh ka khayal toh rakh hi sakti hoon. Aapko chinta karne ki zaroorat nahi hain.

(Sai removes his hand, and walks out leaving Virat a little worried.)

(Pakhi can sense that the promise Virat made to her will soon be broken. She highly doubts Virat and Sai’s bond, and decides to call Virat.)

Pakhi: Pick up the phone Virat!

(Pakhi walks back and forth, but bumps into Samrat.)

Samrat: Kya hua Patherlekha? Itni pareshan kyun ho? Aur baat kis se kar rahi thi tum?

(Samrat is worried and restless thinking about whom she was trying to call but is not telling him.)

Samrat: Tum agar nahin batana chahati ho toh it’s fine.

(Samrat see’s her worried face, and decides not to question it any further. However, he does get suspicious when he sees Virat calling Pakhi. Pakhi makes an excuse and leaves from the room to attend the call.)

Samrat: Jeeva, Patherlekha ko itni raat ko phone kyun kar raha hain?

(Samrat dismisses the negative thoughts by saying that they are friends, and changes to go to sleep.)

(Change of Scene)

(Pakhi, as soon as she accepts the call, questions Virat.)

Pakhi: Kahan ho tum Virat? Tum ne kaha tha na ki tum mere saath rahoge mere best friend ban ke? Phir abhi tak kyun nahin aye? I need you with me right now. 

(Virat feels guilty for leaving her in such a mess because of him, but promises to himself to sort out the mess.)

Virat: Pakhi kaisi ho tum? Samrat kaisa hain? Ek dusre ko jaan ne lag gaye ho ge tum dono? 

(Virat tries to divert the topic.)

Pakhi: Samrat theek hain. Aur jaan ne jaisa abhi kuch nahin hain hamare beeech mein. Aur main iss rishtey ko kaise aage badhaun jab ki mere mann mein toh tum ho? Toh kaise kisi aur ko woh jagah de doon? Jab Jab Samrat mere paas aane ki koshish karta hain, mujhe bahut ajeeb lagta hain. Main nahin kar sakti yeh aur. Upar se parivar walon ke taane nahin sunne jaate mujhse ab. Please come back.

Virat: Pakhi, tum yeh sab isiliye bol rahi ho kyunki tum Samrat ko janti nahin ho. Jan tum ussey jaan ne lagogi toh tumhe bhi ehsaas ho ga ki tumhe uss se behetar koi aur mil hi nahin sakta tha. Trust Me! Apne rishtey ko mauka de ke toh dekho. Apne liye nahin toh mere liye. Please.  

Pakhi: Tum peecha chudana chahate ho kya mujhse?

(Pakhi senses that Virat might have easily moved on, but she cannot. She feels that Virat wants to get rid of her, and of the promise he made to her.)

Virat: Pakhi, aisa kuch nahin hain! Raat bahut ho chuki hain. Main tumhe baad mein phone karta hoon.

(Virat disconnects the call, and Pakhi stands there crying.)

(Change of Scene)

(Virat visits Kamal Sir’s house to check up on Sai’s health. Also to see if she needs anything, as he knows that she will not say it directly. Virat walks up to her room, and knocks on the door. Sai is struggling to tie the dori of her dress and had called Usha Maushi to help her. Hence when Virat knocked, she thought it was Usha Maushi, and let him in.)

Sai: Maushi please help karo, yeh dori bandh hi nahi ho ke de rahi!

(Virat feels embarrassed because he came in while she was changing.)

Virat: I am so sorry mujhe nahin pata tha tum change kar rahi ho! Main bahar wait karta hoon. Aur haan, Maushi ghar pe nahin hain. 

Sai: Oh haan! Woh toh market gayi thi abhi tak nahi aayi. It is okay Virat Sir. Main kuch aur pehen leti hoon. Yeh dori toh band hi nahin ho rahi mujhse. 

Virat: Main help kar doon?

(Virat realizes what he said and adds to the statement to let Sai feel a little more comfortable in the awkward situation he had just created.)

Virat: ...Agar tumhe koi problem nahin ho toh.

Sai: Aapko dori baandhni aati hain? 

(Sai laughs.)

Virat: Iss mein kya mushquil baat hain?

Sai: Theek hain, par apni aankhein band kar ke. 

(Virat does what Sai tells, him and closes his eyes.)

Virat takes a step closer to Sai, who is facing the mirror. He tries to find the dori on each side. His hands gently touch Sai’s shoulders causing her to flinch. She realizes that since Virat’s eyes are closed, she will have to guide him in finding the dori.

Sai: Aap apne left hand ko thoda right le ke jao, aur right hand ko thoda left. (Sai says in a soft tone, and Virat follows the instructions Sai gave him. He finally managed to find both dori. He then brings the two doris to the center. As Virat began to tie the dori, his hand touched the revealing skin on Sai’s back. Causing Sai to flinch once again. She quickly closes her eyes because her breathing has also increased drastically. She soon smiles. Virat finishes tying, but gets lost in the moment. He steps closer to Sai, and brings his face closer to Sai’s neck. His nose fills up with Sai’s perfume. He was about to kiss her neck, when Sai breaks the silence, and he realizes what he was doing.   

Sai: Ho gaya? 

Virat: Haan, ho gaya. (He says stepping back.)

Sai: Aapko kuch kaam tha kya? 

(Sai asks to change the topic and to break the awkwardness between them.)

Virat: Woh...

(Virat struggles to speak because of what had just happened. There was a different feeling for him, but he gathers his thoughts and responds.)

Virat: Woh main yeh poochne aaya tha ki tum theek ho na? Kuch chahiye tumhe?

(Sai was touched by his gesture, but soon thought that he was only doing it because of his promise to her Abba.)

Sai: Thank you, but mujhe kuch nahin chahiye. Maine kahan na I do not need your help as I am capable of taking care of myself. Next month mere entrance exam ka result aa jayega. Aur main Nagpur shift ho jaungi, hostel mein. Aapko chinta karne ki koi zaroorat nahin hain.

Virat: Itni nafrat karti ho mujhse?

Sai: Mere mann mein aapke liye na pyaar hain aur na hi nafrat!

Virat: Kuch chahiye ho toh bol dena. Aur ghar se bahar tum akele nahin jaogi. Jab tak Maushi nahin aati, main yahin hoon. 

(Virat felt a sting in his heart when Sai said she does not feel any emotions for him, but did not know why her indifference affected him so much.)

Part 9 - New Feelings :

(Virat was sitting in the hall because Usha Maushi still hadn’t arrived. He was in deep thoughts about what had just happened in Sai’s room. About how close he was to Sai, and how he was about to kiss her bare neck while tying the dori.)

Virat: What happened to me? Main kyun itna kheecha chala jaa raha tha Sai ki aur? Control yourself Virat. Aakhir tumhe ho kya gaya hain? Jab se Sai se mila hain, sirf ussi ke baare mein sochta reheta hain. Don’t forget, she is your responsibility. Uss se zyaada kuch bhi nahin. Aur waise bhi, tu ne Pakhi ko bhi promise diya hain ki tere dil mein aur koi nahin aayega. Do not complicate things Virat.

(Virat is lost in his thoughts which is broken by a knock on the door. Sai rushes to open it, but Virat signals her to stop. He then gets up to check it himself.)

Sai: Maushi hongi. 

(Virat goes to open the door and sees Maushi. He then greets her.)

Maushi: Saheb, aap yahan? 

Virat: Woh Sai ko ghar pe akela nahin chod sakta. Aur aap bahar thi toh main bas aap hi ke aane ka wait kar raha tha. Main ab chalta hoon. 

Sai: Rukiye Virat Sir.

(Sai calls out Virat. Virat turns around with a confusing look on his face.)

Virat: Kya hua Sai?

Sai: Aap aaye hi hain toh khaana kha ke jaiyie. 

(Virat smiled a little. For the first time Sai asked him to stay over. Maushi goes to prepare the food while the two are busy chit chatting.)

(Change of Scene)

(Pakhi is sitting on her bed remembering the moments she spent with Virat. Her dancing on his singing, his promise. However, soon tears start rolling down her cheeks thinking about the fact that she is now married, and that Virat might have moved on with Sai.) 

Pakhi: Main nahin kar paa rahi move on Virat. Samrat ke saath apne rishtey ko mauka dena chahati hoon lekin mere dil aur dimag mein sirf tum ho. Aur tumhare kareeb rehene ke liye hi toh maine yeh shaadi ke liye haan kiya tha. Lekin ab toh tum hi mujhe chod ke chale gaye.  Ab toh tumhari baaton se toh aisa lagta hain ki tum uss Sai ke kaafi kareeb bhi ho chuke ho. 

(Pakhi cries thinking of Virat always talking about Sai, and ignoring her when she needs him the most. Just then Samrat enters the room and sees her crying. Pakhi quickly wipes her tears. Samrat walks up to her, and places his hand on her shoulder.) 

Samrat: Patharlekha, mujhe yeh toh nahin pata tum roh kyun rahi ho. Aur main yeh bhi jaanta hoon ki tum mere poochne pe bhi nahin bataougi. Lekin tumhe itna zaroor assure kar sakta hoon ki jab bhi tumhe kuch bhi baat karni ho toh tum mujhse kar sakti ho. I know yeh ek arrange marriage hain aur hummey ek dusre ko jaan ne ka zyaada mauka bhi nahin mila. Isiliye agar tum chaho toh we can take things slowly, and start with being friends. Har relationship mein understanding hona zaroori hain. Aur humara rishta pati patni ka kya abhi toh dosti ka bhi nahin hain. We are complete strangers. Toh kya tum dost banogi meri? Pata nahin tum iss shaadi se khush ho bhi yah nahin. Agar tumhe is rishtey ko ek mauka dena hain toh dosti se shuru karein?

(Samrat looks with hopeful eyes, and extends his hand hoping that Pakhi will place her hand in his. So many thoughts were going in Pakhi’s mind about Virat, and what happened in the past few months. However, she decides to try to move on. With a slight smile on her face, she places her hand on his.)

Pakhi: Friends.

(Samrat too smiles back and shakes her hand.)

Pakhi: Thank you mujhe time aur space dene ke liye. 

(Change Of scene )

(Sai is laying down in her bed with her Abba’s photo frame. She is sharing all the events that took place that day with Abba.)

Sai: Abba main jaanti hoon ki aap humesha mere aas paas hi ho. Aur mujhe sun bhi sakte ho. Toh jaise main aap se humesha apne dil ka haal batati thi, aaj bhi wohi karoongi. Main nahin jaanti aap ne Virat Sir se exactly kya kaha tha. Lekin main unn par trust karti hoon kyun ki aap unn par trust kartey hain. Main jaanti hoon un mein aap ne kuch toh dekha ho ga joh meri zimedari unhe di hain aap ne Abba. Ab agle hafte meri entrance exam ke results aa jayenge aur mujhe scholorship bhi mil jayegi. Phir main Nagpur shift ho jaungi hostel mein. Aur aapka aur mera sapna poora karungi ek successful doctor ban ne ka. Dr. Sai Joshi MBBS. Aap aur bappa apna ashirwaad humesha mere saath rakhna.
