It's interesting that people call Shaurya toxic basis just his 'supposedly misogynist' mentality. Whereas, people enjoy all of Gul's heroes who are (in)famous for manhandling their leading ladies all the time, in addition to the series of endless verbal assaults.
Shaurya, on the other hand, despite his upbringing has a sense of guilt every time he does something wrong towards Anokhi. He accepts his mistakes, reprimands her - sometimes going overboard due to her Aastha connection, though more out of jealousy and irritation than anything else, but never to the extent that attacks her self-worth. And the most important of all, he realises and accepts the need to apologize, when he is wrong - irrespective whether he may or may not actually have the courage to do it . Though we've seen him do it already. We've also seen his behavior and thoughts towards women in contrast with that of the other Sabherwal men (sans Shaan), and he's a far cry from anything misogynist in comparison.
One more point, he understands boundaries. During the post-valentine party clash with Vineet when he intervened to prevent Babli and Anokhi being assaulted, he only restrained Vineet and didn't actually beat him into a pulp. Though Vineet deserved to be beaten, Shaurya understood that him doing anything extreme may only make Babli and Anokhi's lives more difficult later on. And that is not something that can be said of most of MLs on ITV.
I absolutely love the way Shaurya is crafted. His flaws make him realistic and human, and I hope that his character remains such for a long, long time to come!
Well written!
We accept crying of men when after slight of abuse, he came with a teary eye sorry! Bit agar koi hero is shown human, fragile, has family issues, he is not even hero in their dictionary!
