SM was definitely more popular than Dheeraj nevertheless it's Dheeraj's 2nd year of winning.

the ones SC and SM won in November were Dadasaheb Phalke icon awards and these were film festival so this was more prestigious.

Its all About PR. Dheeraj is now a days getting all awards due to his strong pr. Though SM is more deserving.

Dheeraj has won a ton of awards for playing the role of Karan Luthra, so it was expected that he would win the DPIFF this year as well. At the moment, both Dheeraj Dhoopar & Surbhi Chandna are the most popular stars of ITV. No one can deny the wonderful actor that Sharad Malhotra is, I wish him better projects in the future.
