I remember watching this movie as a kid and liking it immensely even back then. Yesterday I watched it on Youtube and was completely mesmerized. Mahesh Bhatt's best work till date, it is an incredibly sensitive and layered film about communal disharmony and political agendas. It's a social commentary on religious bigotry prevalent in society, and I believe especially now it is more relevant than ever.
Ajay Devgan is really, really good as the protagonist and Kunal Khemu as the child-artist and Pooja Bhatt as the mother are excellent too.
A genuinely heart-wrenching tale, it made me teary-eyed and left me wondering: why don't we talk about this gem more often?
Has anyone watched it?
