Prithviraj will be a strong contender not because of Akshay but because of the titular character that he was playing. However, Jersey will come off as a winner in the end IMO.

Jersey doesn't need to release on a festival to be a Blockbuster.
Clashing with Prithviraj would only limit it's box office potential. As YRF is notorious for taking major number of screens in a clash, Jersey would get the short end of the stick if it clashes with Prithviraj.
