i didn't mock anyone, least of all a disability. By asking a rhetorical question one is not mocking anyone. If someone says how can anyone look so hot are they implying others cannot look hot? I can't believe you are siding with this person.

Yeah DP looks good in glasses there but let's face it, this is one of the most ridiculous cliches in the fantasy land of movies. An otherwise gorgeous woman with full makeup and hairdo is reduced to "the ugly nerd in glasses" that no man would give a second look JUST because she wears ...... a pair of glasses! And then she suddenly starts turning heads as soon as she gets rid of them. Now isn't that convenient?!

U know what this cliche actually happens. It happened to me.

I have very high number glasses since I was in primary school. I was bullied terrible also and the glasses became a new point for those guys...they used to say I have small eyes(minus number makes your eyes look small) and call me horrible terms that I don't want to mention here.

When I became a teen I decided to go for lenses. Throughout the vacation, I practiced wearing them and gradually increased the duration. Because when u put on the lens for the first time your eyes burn and you aren't supposed to wear it for more than 30 mins.

So after vacations when I went back to school, half of them didn't recognise me, seniors were staring at me. And on top of that the most good looking senior was attempting to ask me out...but I was so awkward and anti social that I had no idea it was happening. Apparently he always liked me but me without glasses made him want to ask me out.

The bullies still tried to make me self conscious about my looks but now I dint give a damn. I could see clearly and it made me confident.

But yeah, this Bollywood cliche is actually true.

I for once agree with minty that DP looks good in glasses. She looked good in YJHD too.

But I didn't like how she mocked Kangu in her next post. You can praise ur fav without mocking other celebs.

Celebs are mocked here on a daily basis. Selective outrage is so funny and makes my blood boil. There are far worse things written here which you have never reacted against.

You post title implied that 'it is not possible to look good with glasses'. That's the issue.

It was supposed to be a fun caption, nothing more, nothing less. I added 'with glasses' because she was looking extraordinarily hot in glasses, doesn't mean others aren't hot in glasses. It's like saying 'how can anyone look this hot in a bikini' doesn't necessarily imply that a bikini is derogatory. It's all a matter of semantics and interpretation. I myself wear glasses and have had high power since childhood, I would be the last person to mock anyone with that condition.

My only issue with movie portrayal of "nerds" is that they're almost always models waiting to chuck off their glasses.😆 And they're played by incredibly attractive actors, sometimes the hottest in the movie cast, and are usually decked up and ready to roll.. except their glasses.😆 In reality, some people are gorgeous and some are just average looking. It's also mostly your interests and social awkwardness that determine how "dorky" you are in the eyes of people, not your glasses. The movie cliche reinforces the idea that glasses = dork and that's all it takes for an ugly duckling to "transform" into a swan. I am not demanding or expecting bollywood movies to portray reality cuz I know that's never gonna happen but I just felt like stating my observation. I can also understand movies incorporating their own flavor of cheese and gaud for the sake of entertainment.

Regarding your personal experience, I have to say I feel for ya! I was suddenly prescribed glasses towards the end of 4th grade. My immediate reaction at the time was how I would show my new face to my friends who would see me in glasses and start making fun of me.☢️ It took a while to get used to it and I didn't transition to contacts till after high school. I have to admit that it's still uncomfortable if I'm stuck with glasses in any situation, whether it's at the gym or out with friends. I admit that getting rid of my glasses got more men buzzing around me but that's cuz I'm (at the risk of sounding full of myself) fairly attractive regardless and I assume so are you. A reasonably attractive person wearing glasses only compromises the appeal to a certain level but it does not make them unattractive or invisible by any means.

Don't worry, Mintyblue, I think some people are just being nitpicky here. Your post didn't come across as derogatory towards people who wear glasses by any stretch. I'll admit that it made me chuckle but only because DPad is completely decked up in those pics, so of course she would look good in them, glasses or not.

Wearing glasses DOES compromise people's "looks" and appeal to a certain level anyway. It might not be the most politically correct thing to say but it's a real and honest one. There's nothing "discriminatory" about it and neither does it show disregard towards those who are stuck with glasses. Welcome to reality.
