The confrontation between Bhavani, Ninad, and Ashwini before the Vasant Panchmi Puja got the wheels turning in my head. We've established pretty well that Bhavani keeps tight control over the family. She's gripped everyone in her iron fist with her arbitrary rules and regulations that everyone must abide by. It is very toxic both for herself and for the members of the family (obviously). But I wonder... where did this need for control come from? Is that how she is or did something make her like this?
Ninad and Omkar both defended her by praising her sacrifices that she did after her husband Nagesh Chavan died. I can only imagine that his death must have wrecked the family in more ways than one. The family must have descended into chaos, and her way of regaining a sense of order was by strict rules and maintaining control. And that way is now the only way of life she knows now. There has to be a genuine origin to her obsession of dictating everyone's life. Maybe that's why she feels so threatened by the likes of Devi, Sai, and Shivani; she has no control over them.
Now coming to Ninad and Omkar. We have all been critical of the way they idolize their vahini, especially Ninad who does so at the expense of his wife. But their fight with Ashwini before the puja got me thinking that this idolization probably has a genuine origin as well. They have seen first hand what Nagesh's death did to ruin the family and tear them apart. Maybe they are genuinely grateful to her for the way she handled everyone then.
Only problem is, that none of these three know how to keep a balance. Bhavani's need for control and Ninad and Omkar's admiration for her have inflated to unreasonable proportions over the years. Bhavani might have found a way to take care of her family years ago after a crisis, but she hasn't changed her ways even after so many years which has introduced too much toxicity into the family. This is where Ashwini has a problem. She doesn't dislike Bhavani per se, but she has a problem with the fact that her husband worships her to the extent of obsession. Neither Ninad nor Omkar know how to tone down their blind adoration for her anymore.
Side note: This is my effort of explaining these people's origin stories. But let me clarify that Ninad is still a piece of human crap for the way he treats his wife.
We've already seen how Bhavani's interference in everyone's lives has caused problems. She fixed Ninad and Ashwini's marriage but as we can see, neither of them are happy. She fixed Samrat and Pakhi's marriage, and we all know how that turned out. Remember when Virat told her that she must adapt to the changing tides of time? That doesn't just apply to the rules of the house. That applies to the basic premise of needing so much control and order over the house itself. It is difficult as she is set in her old ways but it is necessary.
I am so very interested in the past of the older generation. What is their origin story? What happened to the family after Nagesh Chavan's death? What are the sacrifices that Bhavani made? Why do Ninad and Omkar worship her so much? They obviously have seen a side of her that neither Ashwini nor Sonali nor the younger generation has seen. What do you guys think?
Coming to some of my other thoughts:
- In the past few episodes, one of Pakhi's lines have stood out to me: that Sai and Virat should leave the house and live separately in order to maintain peace and quiet. I agree with her. I know she meant it for the Chakram nivasis, but this decision would prove healthy for Virat and Sai moreso than anyone else.
- Ashwini has been my favorite character since the past few episodes. She's basically playing cupid between Sai and Virat. Plus, she has amazing foresight. I love that she sees that Virat and Sai are falling in love. It basically proves the statement that when two people fall in love, they are usually the last to know. Aur Ashwini to maa hain. Maa ko to sab kuch pata hota hain. Heck, even Pakhi can see that something is changing between SaiRat. I remember her saying that Virat has starting looking like Sai's husband more than her friend or the Chavans' son. Thank god for this progress between SaiRat. The new lyrics of the title song fit them perfectly. I won't elaborate too much on the SaiRat journey. Many brilliant writers on the forum have already analyzed their relationship in much better words than I ever could. All I'll say is that as long as they get proper screen space, their journey will be a dreamy and delightful one.
- Lastly, coming to Pakhi. It seems like she has finally begun to grasp the big picture (in some sense). Her mistakes are catching up to her and she's realizing the blunder that her life has become. It explains her breakdown in Saturday's episode. I'm glad that Virat is encouraging her to accept the twist of fate. Although, I wouldn't call it fate since she's the one who got herself into this mess. I don't feel especially attached or sympathetic towards her but I am definitely intrigued in her progress as a character as well as her possible relationship with Samrat. From Virat's flashbacks and his phone call to Brigadier Sood in the latest episode, it seems like Samrat's re-entry is being hinted at. Pakhi and Samrat's relationship will be very interesting. Like someone has already mentioned in another post, the backdrop of betrayal, angst, and regret will make for a gripping storyline.
And thus, I end my rambling. What are your guys' thoughts? Drop 'em below.
As always, stay safe! ❤️
