So before starting this part, I'll like to make a point. Those who don't understand hindi, kindly scroll onto the next post. That part is completely in english. Hope it will helpđ
Part 8 - Dastak
Eyes fluttering open, Purvi suppressed a yawn and turned her head towards her right to find the space empty. Her brows furrowed in confusion, and rubbing her groggy eyes she slowly sat up.
âHe is up early?!â She murmured confused, and then turned to the side table for clock.
8.30
Once again, her brows came together in confusion and she blinked, and blinked again.
8.31
Eyes widening in horror, Purvi hurriedly scampered off the bed and rushed out of the room. Running through the corridor, she came to a halt in front of the childrenâs room and entered inside.
âMaa! Mamaji!â
They turned to her and chuckled. âKe Purvi toofan aaya tha ke?â Mamaji smiled as Purvi tilted her head in confusion, âJi?â
âTu na sheesha dekhâ, Maa suggested biting back a grin and as Purvi complied, her eyes widened to saucers, twice in the span of a few minutes and instantly her hands came up and started smoothing out her mussed hair. She looked like she had been in a scuffle!
âSarry maa! Hamari aaj pata nhi kyuâŠaankh nhi khuli..â Purvi trailed apologetic.
âArre koi na. Bacche gaye bhi thhe tujhe uthane par fir bole ki haathi ko aaj sone do. Toh khud hi badi shanti se taiyaar hue aur chale gayeâ, Prakashi smiled as she rose to her feet.
âAbhi tu bhi jaa aur taiyaar ho ja. Nashte ka time ho rahahaiâ.
Nodding at Prakashiâs word, Purvi spun around and walked away.
Back in the room, as Purvi was done with her accessories, she plopped on the bed, perplexed. It had come to her while taking the bath that she had been waiting for Virender to come back till around 3 am and had fallen asleep while waiting. No wonder her body had missed its 6â0 alarm.
Frustration dawned as she thought of him. Whatâs with him and nights?!
âUllu kahinke!â She spit under gritted teeth. He would read books late into night, and then go to 2 am strolls. And then he would come asking her to make kaadha for gale ki kharash! So overbearing!
To top it off, he had the gall to use her as a punching bag as he wished.
âSadu kahinke!â She cursed, rolling her eyes recalling his outburst. He was like a ticking time bomb, especially these days. Was it gas?! Purvi pondered for a split second as his sour face came to her mind.
âDefinitely constipation! Vo toh hamesha hi rehti hi!â She scoffed. But seriously, his mood swings these past days would outright best a womanâs PMS mood. He was happy sometimes, ridiculously so- would lay down by her side gazing into her eyes, sometimes would sneak a touch here, a brush there, gentle still full of desire and sometimes, would just force her to sit by his side for tea or just to share the happenings of her mundane day. And on some days, he was a nightmare reincarnate, with a permanent frown between his brows and scowl on his lips-blowing people off for even breathing, snapping without reason, replies full of sarcasm and mannerisms full of anger, even telling her off for being a chatterbox and his headache.
What was she supposed to do?!
âMukhi nhi, 50-50 krackjack hai, kabhi sweet, kabhi salty.Itne pyaar se, nhi pyar se nhi, itne dil se wo kurta laae thhe aur dekha tak nhi!â Purvi hmphed.
âMucchhad Singh! Krur Singh! Mann toh karta hai ki inki mucche uda de ek din neend main taki inki akkad kam ho. Arghhhh!â
Purvi yelled annoyed. The more she thought of him, the more frustrated she grew.
Unaware to Purvi, Virender had been on his study table the entire time, his form obscured by the linen curtains and her ignorance. And her threat of cleaning his moustache off his face had his worried fingers flying to check if his face still had its hairs intact. Good grief!
âYo toh sahi main baawri ho gayi hai!â He muttered, scared if one morning he would wake up to a baby face with no hairs. His beard is abysmal as is; he canât be losing his moustache too! No! He really needed to make up with her for his sake and for the sake of his âmucchhâ.
In the meantime, Purvi had already taken hold of a cushion and started beating it against the mattress in a gruesome manner. Virender shuddered. Dhobi pachaad!
And then she went onto smother that cushion. Virender choked, and bit back a cough. Timing was the key. He was way too young to die!
Finally, she started to punch the cushion, and Virender almost fell over his chair. What timing?!Like lava, the more the time passed, the heavier became the flow of her frustrations.
Gathering his courage, he rose from his chair and adjusted the gala of his kurta, his fingers unbuttoning the top 3 buttons. And taking in a shaky breath, he stepped out from his hiding space and into the view. She still remained ignorant, immersed in a possible stare-off with the cushion. She still didnât notice as he came to stand in front of the mirror and he snuck a glance at her.
âOk, here goes nothing! Hope it works!â
âYo kurta thoda tight lag ra haiâ
His voice caught her attention and she directed her glare at him, as he turned around and raised an eyebrow in challenge, his eyes filled with amusement.
âNhi?â He added, and as he met her confused gaze, he moved his own down and tugged at the collar of his kurta.
It was then she noticed. Bewildered, she let go of the cushion and getting off the bed, came to stand by his side, her eyes travelling over the beautiful bandhgala vest fitting his form perfectly.
âA bit small, nhi?â
At his remark, her eyes flitted back up his body and met his gaze as he gave her a lopsided grin.
And finally, a challenging smile broke out on her face in response. âNhi, itâs perfectâ.
As her fingers flew forward to button up the remaining buttons, Virender internally sighed. She was happy. Good.
His restless fingers finally let loose as he raised his hand and cupped her face. âMane maaf kar de. Tanne thhes pahunchai na chahte hue bhiâ.
Shaking her head, she clutched his arm and smiled. She had grown accustomed to these touches. Though why her heart was still like a thief caught off guard, restless and jumpy, was a different story.
âKya hua tha? Aap bina wajah aisa nhi karte hainâ She asked and a battle raged within Virender. He wanted to tell her. He really did but he didnât want his jealousy to deprive her off her happiness, and Vaibhav was apart of it. More than not taking his words seriously, he was afraid she would grow cautious of Vaibhav and overthink even the simplest of gestures. Didnât want that either especially when he was not sure about what Vaibhav wanted, and also because as clingy Vaibhav was getting, he was still playing in his limits.
Virender sighed. âTanne mujhse ek baar bhi na pucha shopping ke liye. Bura lag gaya maneâ. It was true, even if half.
Purviâs eyes widened as she reached out her hand to cup his face but stopped a cm short, scared that he will move away. He did move alright, but closer as his face touched her palm and he leaned into her touch.
Was he being driven to insanity in this moment? He had no clue. Only that he could hear his heart drumming in his ears, and his ears heating up. He really did want her. The warmth of her touch truly did beckon him to places, forbidden and unexplored.
Purvi bit her lips as she looked at him, his eyes closed while he leaned into her touch. Was it possible for a man to look so angelic? The remarkable serenity of his features had caught her gaze and she could not look away. And then as his eyes slowly, gradually fluttered open, her heart started racing, almost unhinged and wild. All it took from him was a look, and she had come undone.
âI-main chahti thi aapke sath jaana par mujhe laga ki panchayat main kaam hai aurâ main toh jana bhi nhi chahti thi par bacchon aur Vaibhav ne zidd ki, aur maa bhi boli toh main chali gayi. Varna aapke bina kuchâ
Purvi paused as his brows lifted, waiting for an explanation.
ââkuch acha nhi lagtaâ, her voice lowered in a whisper just like her eyelashes, and then she looked up again, her eyes full of innocence,âSarry, maaf kar dijiyeâ.
Virender took in a shaky breath, his control splintering. His palm slipped below her jaw, and as her own eyes glossed over, his eyes smoldered.
âIâll always have time for youâ, he spoke, his voice husky and his breathing getting raspy.
âI-
Purvi stammered, entranced by the depth of his eyes, and the allure of his deep voice. He had to be a sorcerer in disguise, because despite the alarms blaring in her head, her body complied with his hypnotic touch and only moved closer as his fingers pushed at the back of her neck.
âI-what?â His voice dipped further, and goosebumps rose allover her skin.
âIâll always remember youâ, It was the reflection of his own desire in her eyes that pushed him over the curb as he leaned towards her, his lips glad to seek hers as their eyes flickered close.
So how was it?đ Hope you had a fun time reading

âNow you should go and get ready too. It is about time for breakfastâ.
