When she came out of the toilet this time around, he could see it on her face that she was quite drained.

Finally plopping down on her floor cushion i front of her small floored desk, she mumbled,

"I feel like vomiting patibabu.."

As much as Aniruddh was alarmed to hear this, the words she spoke next were enough to give him the shock of his lifetime as she continued innocently,

The chalk that he was holding in his right hand slowly slid away as his fingers became lifeless with the shock of what he was hearing.

On the other hand, the little vixen who was the cause of this state that he was in had now been sitting quietly and focusing on writing something in her notebook from her lesson.

She did not even know that she had dropped a major nuclear bomb on her patibabu's head!

Finally coming to his senses, Aniruddh shook his head as if to clear it, and then he called out for Koyeli to bring the kaadha that would make Bondita feel better.

Dealing with the urgent matter of her problem first, he eventually plopped in front of her too such that her little desk was between them now.

Swiftly sneaking her notebook away, he finally gained her attention as she lifted her head and saw that he was sitting in front of her like a dead statue… She was feeling better now, so she said,

"I am fine now patibabu. Vomits happen commonly with girls who are becoming mothers."

As she looked at his face, she felt something was wrong. What alarmed her was the way her patibabu was looking at her with his eyes wide open like huge saucers!

Before she could ask him something, she realized that his mouth was slightly hung open too, and he looked as if he didn't even remember closing it!

Finding his behavior really odd when just a few minutes ago he was alright and teaching her earnestly, she raised her hand to his face and gently pushed his chin upwards to force close his mouth.

"Patibabu...what happened? Close your mouth before a fly goes inside!"

Her musical voice and her concern which were usually like a soothing balm to his sensibilities finally brought him back from his trance.

Slowly recovering his semblance, he again shook his head as if he was trying to rattle his brain to clear it, he found his voice as he asked in a suffocated tone,

Realizing that her patibabu was behaving so oddly on hearing her 'insignificant news,' she slapped her forehead and said,

And that she started her menstruation just a month ago and Aniruddh was the one who had helped her through it.

Okay..okay..there is a huge misunderstanding.

"I saw it last week when I went to the village to meet my mother. My friend Bela was vomiting constantly and her mother in law told me that Bela is vomiting because she is going to become a mom soon too."

And then recalling something disturbing, the smile vanished from her face as a frown marred her forehead.

"But patibabu, Bela gave birth to a girl just 6 months ago. And now she is expecting again. She was not at all feeling well with all the weakness and persistant vomits. The doctor and the lady who helps women give birth to babies were saying that Bela's husband was careless enough and he is responsible for Bela's declining health."

Feeling a surge of anger at what clearly must have been a case of reproducing a 'son' without ever considering the health status of a 12, 13 years old extremely young and new mother, Aniruddh took a deep sigh as he said,

And then muttering to himself, he said angrily,

"Yes Bondita, her husband should have taken care of this. She is already so young for becoming a mom. And now she is expecting again. That's not right."

"Don't know when people will realize that women are not child-producing machines. They should take good care of their wives and their health instead of worrying about their future and children only. And that little girl Bela must not have realized even what troubles her husband has gotten her into (with back to back pregnancies)"

Hearing her patibabu's angry words, she felt uncomfortable as she asked in a low, cautious tone,

"So patibabu, is it your fault too (like Bela's husband) that I am becoming a mom now?"

And then gulping as tears of dreaded concern brimmed inside the pools of her eyes, she quickly added,

"But how is it your fault patibabu? You always take care of me and never let any harm come my way. I will tell the doctor off if he tries to scold you for this!"

Two things hit Aniruddh at once as her words caught his attention.

His sweet little wife was worried that someone would blame him for making her pregnant….

And that she was not pregnant and just misinformed!

Aniruddh wanted to laugh at her naivete as a feeling of profound tenderness washed over him as he realized that she could not see anyone wrongfully blaming her patibabu for something. Even in her confusion, she was ready to fight for him!

A faint , soft smile crept up his lips as he said lovingly,

"No Bondita, I haven't done anything wrong with you as yet, and that is why you are not becoming a mother as of now. You probably ingested something has caused you indigestion."

She felt confused on hearing this.

"What do you mean, patibabu? Everyone in the village was blessing me to have a child soon and bring good news."

And then feeling at a loss, she mumbled in a small voice,

"Am I not going to be a mother, patibabu?"

Taking a deep breath, Aniruddh knew that they had to drop the concept of mathematics that he was teaching her a while ago and teach her a lesson of practical biology instead now.

He had never thought before about broaching this important subject, but in front of him was not any ordinary person.

"Now you tell me Bondita. You are a woman, and I am your husband. When we have not come closer to each other, and when I never touched you, then how can you become a mother?"

"No! You do touch me! You hold my hands and you pinch my cheeks. And we have love between us too."

Suppressing his wild urge to let go of his bubbling laughter, he said,

"Bondita! Thess mild touches are not what I am talking about. These touches are not going to produce babies. Okay, tell me, have you ever grown a plant?"

She shook her head in negative, trying to keep up with his train of thought which was not making much sense to her.

"Have you ever seen a gardener growing a plant?"

That she knew, so she happily nodded her head with full force.

Smiling at her, he continued,

"Then you must have seen how the gardener first looks for a land that is fertile. Then he sows seeds in the land. Soon, the seeds start growing into a small plant which remains inside the land for a while, but eventually, the plant emerges from the land too, and then the gardener can see it too. He takes care of it's water, sunlight, and fertilizers too so that it keeps growing. Right?"

He paused to check if she was following him or not.

She nodded to affirm that she was. Smiling at the way she was now propping her face in her hands with her eyes reflecting how fascinated she was about learning all these things, he said,

"Similarly, a man or say, a husband like myself have some seeds that we give to our wives, just like the gardener sows seeds inside the land. Men also bury their seed inside their wives, which eventually grow into a small baby who remains inside their mother's womb for a while, and later, they come out of their mother. Do you see the similarity?"

She was in deep thoughts as she was reflecting on his statements.

And that was when she realized one important thing:

Her patibabu had not given her any beej! (seed)

So it meant that she could not be having any baby within her.

Feeling a little upset, she heaved a sigh as she said,

"So patibabu, you have not buried your seed within me. Am I not like the 'good land'? Don't you love me too (like the gardener loves his land)?"

If I do the same with you as Bela's husband has done with her, you will get injured, and it will hurt you a lot too.
