So, back to this 😆 - agree on Rudra-Saumya being my faves after Shivika. They were cute in the initial stages. Any idea why they tanked the ship?

I liked Om, but I feel like the writers didn't really know what to do with him beyond a certain point. Yeah, the SSO 2.0 thing did. not. work. It was like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, and DBO in general was just blah (oh God I just remembered the CGI crocodile 🤣)

BUT I agree that I loved OmRu's relationship with Anika. I think Anika fell in love with them (and the family) long before she fell for Shivaay. My fave Rudra-Anika scene was in the initial phase when Shivaay-Tia's marriage was finally going ahead, and Rudy gives Anika a gift, and she's so emotional and like, "I'm really gonna miss you guys" 😭😳 such a sweet relationship, and I like how she evolved from being his fellow prankster didi into his bhabhi-maa, essentially. He always had her back.

I could have easily tolerated bhavya with rudra had they not just destroyed saumya..but when they destroyed her character i was like nah..meri cite si saumya ko tabah krke bhavya ko accha krne chale..#rejected!! Zidd si ho gyi thi meri😂

Aniomru...ufff...writers had such amazing ways to explore their relationship more yr...at some point in the story anika actually became more important to them than shivaay...and i looovvved it🤗

They spoiled omky shomki after bela (i forgot her name again😂) and i agree she was so cringeeyy man!! But i think that cringe level and that gujju stiff was shown ki during that travk or atleast whta they were trying to potray, people to tolerate her, because essentially she was not a likeable person. I mean you don't root your hero with a fraudster. Had they developed the story, that could have been toned down.

There's this amazing ff on wattpad and that's on og leads only, so we actually see om with bela but she's written bela (I'm gonna cal her that only now, coz i keep forgetting her name😛) the way i and i think the writers also envisoned her character. I'll give the name of the ff, give it a read, it's actually really well written.

Shivika were my main OTP with the intense, tashan waala romance (seem to have a thing for it clearly). But RumYa were the cute couple and Shivika fans themselves. They went for the whole fit boy-chubby girl concept. I have no idea why they had to sink that ship because they had amassed quite a decent following too. No reason was given that I can recall of. Then they turned sweet Sumo into a sinister character. Bhavya and Rudy were given this weird half-baked relationship that just never connected to me.

LOL yeah, now I don't feel that marginal amount of guilt for taking over yet another thread with IB-talk

Agreed re: Bhavya-Rudra. She was nice enough, but I didn't get why they loved each other, and they were constantly fighting about their age difference and how immature he was. I feel like both Gauri-Om and Rudra-Bhavya were poor imitations of Shivika, and they tried too hard to get those relationships to that same level, which ofc they never did.

I just went back and found it (or one version of it). They say: "Agar woh ishqbaaz hai, toh hum bhi nafratbaaz hai" 🤣 and then the iconic hand gestures along with: "Oberois ki barbaadi. Har haal mein, har keemat par" 🤣 oh Kapoor sisters, you were a riot 😆 though I did forget they tried to pass off that Romi chick as the third Kapoor sister initially.

I personally think that what OmRu shared with Anika was beyond Shivaay. While the other family members loved Anika because of Shivaay, OmRu loved and cared for her for who she was. Granted, that love would take a backseat when it comes to Shivaay. Because their love for Shivaay always took priority. But even in those situations, their love for her was genuine. Imo Om and Anika shared more of a friendship dynamic but with Rudra, Anika became from his partner in crime to the Bhabi-ma like status. It gave me the fuzzy feels. Their bond looked so natural and effortless. @Bold That was such a sweet, heartwarming scene. Wasn't Shivaay overlooking in that scene too? He felt those pangs too and realized he may not see her again.

@bold - agreed. They loved her for her. You're right that Rudra had the deeper relationship with Anika, but I love the time Om calls her bhabhi for the first time, after she comes to him when he's in the worst possible place 😳 it felt like a really significant moment. And then in the track where they both bring her back after the first separation, and support her in getting their old tadibaaz SSO back 😳

Yes, Shivaay was watching that scene, and I think it was the first time it occurred to him that after the wedding, he wouldn't see her again. Ever.

Bhavya was a fun char, but her r/s with Rudra never ventured beyond "you're a child" territory 😕 also telling that they are the only couple (of the 'final' ones) to get their own song.

The actress who played Sumo did a great job as a villain, but yeah, I missed my OG gal. But her interplay with GIGANTIC Dr Veer (who was also somehow related to the sisters ) was kind of hilarious. But her being a Kapoor sis made no sense bc they made such a big deal of her aiyi in the early stages, and her bro having died or whatever (I forget). Om's reaction when he learned she was evil broke my heart - he'd always treated her like a proper sister.

Yes, I suppose you're right re: Bela/Ishani. She was not meant to be likeable at that point, and probably would have developed into a better character. I just remember her cringey dance when she was deciding which of the OBros to target 🤣
