I still stand by what I said in the beginning.Sai should watch her tone.No one is asking Sai not to speak or take a stand for what she thinks is right . I personally believe the way we present our thoughts makes a huge difference. Right think said in the wrong way can go ignored .
When you say something in the firm tone it has more effect on others than saying the same thing with rudeness. Rudeness can provoke other person and can deviate the discussion and thatās what happened today . The fact that Ninad didnāt support his sister got overshadowed by Saiās rudeness . The whole discussion turned into something else .
I donāt believe in stopping to other people level to prove a point hence I expect Sai to watch her tone .Ninad is her FIL and elder to her so keeping that in mind Sai could have phrased better . Atleast for her husband she could have toned down .
I agree. What is Saiās objective - to make Ninad listen & do the right thing or to put down Ninad? I believe it is the former. She has a better chance of doing that by being firm/assertive while maintaining basic politeness. When we present a sensible idea in a rude or belittling way we cause the other person to become defensive immediately even before they process the idea, so the idea is lost on them.
Secondly this is an Indian family. Whether conservative or modern, respect for elders & respect for the relation (parent, aunt, bhabhi etc) regardless of whether the elder is a good or bad person, is a core value. Even with a bad saas, the bahu may disobey her but not call her names or tell her āshutupā.
Thatās a line that Sai sometimes crosses. Right from the beginning, when she spoke to the ACP, her fatherās boss, a police officer, unbelievably rudely. If u believed your fatherās boss was not being fair to him, would u go up to him & speak to him like that?
