Q. Do you regret dropping Aishwarya Rai from the film?

A. To start a project with someone and then change her for no fault of hers is very difficult. It is very sad as Ash is a good friend. Personally I think I did wrong. But as a producer it made sense. I apologised to Ash.

At that point as a producer, SRKs two previous films had flopped and his production company couldn't afford another financial failure. But in this case he fired the victim, and not just from this film, she was removed from several others she was to star in with him and according to Ash she wasn't even personally notified. Rani who was Ash's close friend didn't even warn her let alone consult with her when she replaced her in the film and that ended their friendship as well.

Oh man, this paints such a dirty picture of SRK and Rani. Of course Salman was always notorious but these two had a sweet image till this point and it was completely shattered.

Props to Aishwarya for handling this with utmost grace and class! She remained cordial with SRK and Rani in public events after this incident, but cut off her personal ties with them. Good for her.

SRK thought she was finished because he threw her out of five big films, she had already not been in good stead with Aamir due to his ego and Salman for obvious reasons. But boy did she rise like a phoenix from the ashes, only became a much bigger star with her global fame and her resounding comeback into Bollywood with Kajra Re, Dhoom 2, Guru and Jodhaa Akbar.

Oh, and apart from her professional success, her ultimate trump card was becoming the Bachchan bahu. She was here to stay.

The fact that SRK waited for six years to apologize to her showed what a douchebag he was/is. He hoped she would go off radar right after he dropped her from his films. She didn't. When she became powerful again, he bowed down before her.

I am positive she recognizes his cunningness, which is the reason she rejected film offers opposite him after that (Happy New Year, Dilwale).

Salman screwed with her career and SRK not only let him on that film but screwed with it some more out of fear of Salman - her EX - continuing being a destructive disruptive abusive drunken asshole.

That’s horrible on SRK part. Seems like Bollywood stars are heroes only in movies. In real life they are bunch of bullies to the weak and cowards to the strong.

Yes Srk replaced Aish but not to stay in good books of salman. They weren't in talking term for years. He fought with salman too.werent salman-aish still together after that fight?

He replaced Aish for his personal issues and financial problems. And he was not the producer of VZ etc that's just Aish's version.

Salman khan made careers of lot but ruined Aish. I still wonder if this criminal be ever behind the bars.

That was a lie. Srk had total 4 releases during 2003-05 period.

Swades- Aish was never offered .

Main hoon Na- Again srk's home production. started working on this after CC success. Aish wasn't offered.

Kal Ho Na Ho -srk was shooting for both CC and KHNH simultaneously

That leaves only VeerZaara. Aish says she was replaced .srk says he doesn't interfere in casting. God knows the truth

All speculations. The men always support each other esp vs a woman ( not their Mother, sister, daughter or wife ). SRK and Salman bonding was bound to happen.

But don't think anyone can really ruin another's career, if one is meant to be, then you shall reach the position. Aishwarya lost projects on her own accord, she should have developed strong relations with BW people so that some would have offered her work. But being recluse doesn't help. She wasn't even a huge star that time.

Rani actually did pretty well for herself on her own.
