Chapter 1
"Aai mujhe bachao!," a little girl screamed while she ran as fast as she could. She suddenly bumped into someone. "Aai! Dekho na yeh Sanvi mujhe yeh gandi si sabzi khane ke liye force kar rahi he!" The woman lifted the little girl in her arms and brought her to the table. "Dekhiye na Kalyani madam. Apki beti khana khane se mana kar rahi he. Maine itni mehnat se karele ki sabzi banayi he," Sanvi made a sad face while the girl just scrunched her nose in disgust. Kalyani smiled and assured the lady that the food won't go to waste. She explained to her daughter that it was bad to disrespect food. After a bit of hesitating Ayushi finally gulped her food down.
Suddenly Kalyani's phone started ringing and she moved away from the duo to attend the call. It was Sameer, her colleague as well as a good friend at the hospital, as Kalyani was a doctor now. He informed her that she had to serve duty in Aurangabad now since they have a shortage of doctors and the Pune Hospital has decided to help them. As soon as she heard the word 'Aurangabad' she got goosebumps. She let her phone fall which attracted Sanvi and Ayushi's attention. "Kya hua madam?," Sanvi held her by her upper arm as she was about to sink to her knees. "Woh... Aurangabad," she whispered. Sanvi instantly understood what the matter was. She asked Ayushi to go to her room and as the little girl didn't want to trouble her mom she just nodded her head and left.
As soon as she was gone, Kalyani started crying. She fell to her knees. Sanvi let her be. She let her cry out her bottled up frustration and anger. After a while Sanvi knelt down and asked what exactly the matter was. Kalyani told her whatever Sameer had told. Sanvi knew Kalyani inside out as she was one of the few people who Kalyani trusted and told everything to. "Par madam aapko apki duty nibhaani chahiye. I know ki aap uss sheher nahi jaana chathe kyuki...," she stopped as she didn't want to rub salt on Kalyani's wounds. "Mujhe pata he lekin agar mujhe woh mile toh? Nahi, nahi! Mai Pune chod kar kahi nahi jaungi"
Sanvi knew it was pointless to make her understand anything now so she just accompanied Kalyani to her room and hoped that Kalyani was in a better state of mind tomorrow.
Kalyani laid down on her bed and cuddled with Ayushi who was already sound asleep. But a sleepless night was awaiting Kalyani. A very long night.
