Ya, this will be a good twist to justify "khoon ke rishton se bhi ache hote hai". There is already a lot of debate to Whether Ru will love Saransh the same if it was not his brother's child.. So this could be a really good track to explore..

Saransh is still Mahima's son and Pree is his mother for all intents and purposes and the storyline revolves around a single mom finding love. So, even if Saransh isn't Rajiv's kid, the storyline would hold. But definitely, this can impact Ru and his relationship with Saransh and Pree. Like, would he still accept Pree and S if S wasn't his bro's kid? This would probably make it closer to the original theme than it currently is. Also, since Ash is playing Ahana, I keep expecting the makers to add more layers to her character and not keep her this one-dimensional. But let's see what happens.
