In that case I can understand because he wanted to win that task and thats the kind of enthusiasm people liked. Here toh he gave up just because things werent going his way. And in that case he truly deserves to stay out because other people are fighting harder despite being demoralised week after week.

Based on his track record, I am sure he would not have tried. But one thing for sure he cried.
