MTV Roadies: Will Shambhavi win?
Last week, an air of unrest descended upon the Roadies. Two weeks for the international leg of the show to take off and in an unusual move by the organisers, five ex-Roadies - Vibhor, Snehashish, Ankita, Vikrant and Prabjhot were brought back for one last chance to prove their worth.
The fist task saw Nihal and Prabhjot axe their opponents off a wooden plank 30 feet above the ground. Nihal won fair and square whereas Prabhjot won by default as her opponent Anmol simply 'gave up'. And so in what was in a historic moment for the series, MTV Hero Honda Roadies found the first two contestants who would represent the show in Bangkok.
The second task was an unusual one. The roadies walked the long path to the location and were greeted by a strange sight – a fire truck and a tanker of water. No, their task didn't involve jumping into a burning building or saving little kittens from tree tops. It was a cleverly designed task that questioned the laws of physics and expected the Roadies to bend quite a few of them... for as long as they could anyway.
Each contender was asked to hold on to the fire hose that was dangling 40 feet above the ground. All they had to do was hold on to it longer than their opponents. Simple enough right? Wrong! We were shocked to find out that the hose would be spraying water on the Roadies with the same pressure that was used when putting out fire from a blazing building.
Ankita chose to challenge Shambhavi, whereas Snehashish challenged Anshu. In a shocking accomplishment, Shambhavi outdid Ankita by holding on for five seconds longer whereas Anshu beat Snehashish fair and square.
What we found really interesting was Ankita's loss. Well, if you'd seen her anger and resentment for Shambhavi in the rooms earlier, you would be interested too. Especially when referring to a previous statement Shambhavi made about the other's family background and financial status, Ankita stated clearly, "Just because we don't talk about it doesn't mean our fathers don't have bank balances or drive Mercedes cars!" Certain that she was outnumbered and outwitted by her comrades, Shambhavi chose to say nothing.
Anyway, the final verdict is now in. The valiants who survived the tasks are Prabjhot, Nihal, Shambhavi and Anshu. Ayaz, unfortunately got voted out by a landslide. Thus the two survivors are Sonel and Vibhor.
And that is how the Indian chapter of MTV Hero Honda Roadies ended last Saturday. It isn't easy to ascertain who will survive in this game where the fittest isn't always the one who survives. For reasons beyond logic, we're putting our money on Shambhavi.
cheers
