Even back then, 14-year-old me thought the best music award should have gone to Josh, Dhadkan or Mohabbatein.
I still feel the same way!
What do you think?

Nope . I hated both the movie and songs even back then especially Dil Ne Yeh Kaha Dil Se. The only song that was tolerable was that Mahima song .
Mohabbatein album was actually most popular, not only of the year but the whole decade.
Dhadkan deserved the awards more it had such lovely tracks 👍🏼
All three had melodious & popular songs imo..May be that 'ik pal ka jeena' was a knock out punch ? A frenzy back then iirc..Iconic moves & beats..20 yrs & still spoofed around (more than anyone else)..

The craze for Ek Pal Ka Jeena and Hrithik probably propelled the album towards a win. I love the songs of Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai especially Na Tum Jaano Na Hum but tbh, Mohabbatein did have better songs.
Dhadkan songs are super irritating to me tbh 😵🥱
I was 9 I think. I liked Mohabbatein more. I loved every song from that movie unlike KNPH
