Dialogue delivery or emoting?

I have seen lot of people criticizing Deepika for her dialogue delivery. But isn't emoting more important, getting the body language right, the nuances, the inflexes? And Deepika scores very high on all those fronts.

Dialogue delivery is important, but secondary to emoting. I write this to emphasize the importance for any actor to understand the character, regardless of language. The emotional subtext comes from being that person described on the pages for the duration of the scene, making the audience believe what they are watching are real emotions.

A language may be alien to someone, and if they have a problem communicating in that, dialogue delivery is affected. But what is more imp. is the emoting part.

Even Kangana has poor dialogue delivery but no-one criticizes her for this because she more than makes up in emoting. Why single out Deepika?

Kangana, Deepika, and Sonam are all 3 bad at dialogue delivery.

What separates the first two is their good emoting and makes them good actresses. Sonam sucks at emoting, and that's the reason she is weak.

Err maybe because deepura cant even make it up by emoting. She overacts ruining it all.

I think it's Deepika's accent which makes her dialogue delivery stand out more than say Kangana's.

Generally speaking, I would say both emoting and dialogue delivery are important in their own ways. If I can't deliver something impactful due to a monotonous dialogue delivery..somewhere down the line, my words won't hit home. I think emoting well has allowed Deepika to get the appreciation that she has in spite of not having the best dialogue delivery around..but, if she nailed the latter also..just imagine what impact that could have.

There is a reason why people appreciate the way AB or SRK speak.

And no dailogue delivery isn't about diction or clear pronounciation, it is about delivering the dailogue keeping the emotions and situation in mind, which the likes of Kangana and Sridevi do very well. People in the forum seems to confuse clear diction with dialogue delivery. Kangana doesn't have bad dailogue delivery, her issue is diction. And that isn't her fault either as she has lisp of somekind.

Absolutely true. DD isn't important as expressions,hence proved by Minty that Sonam is better actress than Deepika.

Deepu neither can emote... Having teary eyes and blank face is not emoting...

Deepika is average as an actress. She was the weakest link in both Padmavat and Baji Rao. In fact she was awful in Padmavat just see the scene where she is answering the questions asked by some priest. She looks like a zombie in that one. On contrary Kangu is actually pretty good when it comes to emoting. Even in Manikarnika (which she ruined by her stupid direction) she does look convincing and powerful as Laxmi Bai (except that last fight where it looks like she is chewing paan).One thing I noticed was common in their acting is that they both try to do that glassy, vacant soulless eyes. While Deepika fails miserably and looks stupid in doing so Kangu does that quite well, maybe because that's what she actually is on the inside ( a soulless zombie)
