Why the kissing scene in Dhoom 2 caused so much controversy? - Page 2

All I remember about that controversy is that bachchan parivar had problem with to-be bachchan bahu kissing someone onscreen. Baaki pata nahi.

The kissing scene was deliberately pushed for controversy because the movie Dhoom2 didn't have any buzz to offer. It lacked fizz so the kiss was put it as objectionable to Bachchan's esp Big B.

The whole to be Aish Bahu comes across as fake as surely AB Jr being part of the movie would know about the kiss and probably saw it beforehand.

The duo were in serious relationship & about to be married and so no way Aish or AB Jr would risk it.

Having been a teen when Raja Hindustani came out, I can attest that the kiss caused a stir. But then Karishma Kapoor wasn't new to controversy with so many of her songs with Govinda causing a stir. Aamir's Rangeela too had caused a stir the previous year (not because of Aamir of course).

While both kisses were controversial and added to cause publicity, the Raja Hindustani kiss felt more natural as a pivotal point where the characters discover their mutual attraction but in Dhoom 2 it felt forced and didn't serve the plot.

The kiss was perfectly placed after a very emotional scene where he tests her love and loyalty (via crazy Russian Roulette) and they're emotionally stripped bare. It's an emotional kiss, sweet and rather benign. There's no inhaling of each others faces or tongue duels on screen.

It comes rather late in their relationship where she's already living with him. I'd assumed they were already having sex because otherwise why would he hook up with a third rate thief and risk his freedom and life? I didn't even consider it a first kiss between them, just the first we saw.

But it did cause an out sized stir. Reportedly because of the backlash or probably mostly because of the Bachchans there was no kiss in JA or Guzzarish where there should have been. Then there was the weird bit where HR was not invited to the wedding even though he was a lifelong friend of Abi and Ashs current co-star filming JA though their director was invited.

Most kisses in Bollywood are nothing compared with all the grinding, groping, grabbing and rubbing going on which is supposedly just wholesome fun unlike that vulgar lip touching. 😆
