Do you think audiences are changing? Are they veering more towards content than ever before? I saw social media/Internet audiences have trashed Laxmii and embraced Ludo. I know there is no box office to measure these films' performance but from what I can see, people are unanimously praising a content film and trashing a masala film which didn't live upto their expectations.

Or will we continue to see mediocre masala films ruling the roost once the theatres open?

What do you think? Discuss.

Yes..

Yes..

Mediocre masala stuff might gradually fade out or better to say , continue to be more inclusive of realism in near future subjected to certain factors (including socio-political one)..

There have been parallel (offbeat) cinema atleast since 70s/80s but it was far less popular than 21st century counterpart of it , credit to unabated evolution process of intellect gearing mankind towards realism coupled with other factors like production houses placing money with encouraging outcomes from 2000s on unconventional directors (contrary to 90s where it was mostly RGV) , relatively more space to talents with memorable character roles , new age technology , better marketing etc. etc..All this cumulatively has oriented avg. Indian audience towards realistic content in contemporary contrary to 90s where buffoonery used to be order of the day..Many things which once were out of the box are now more of a mainstream..

The truth is that at the actual BO both Laxmi and Ludo would have flunked. Not sure what change we are talking about here.
