I understand your perspective when you want to delete your account and remove all your traces from this site. Whatever you have written and posted is your own material and whether to keep it here or not should be in your control.

On the other hand, I also understand why they don't want to keep it as simple as deleting an account. Because others have interacted with you on a thread, it would be unfair if your posts are suddenly removed from in between and the conversation starts having gaps. Imagine if you come across some old thread where an interesting debate is going on and you see posts missing from here and there. It will be so disjointed.

Which is why I feel that allowing us to hide and edit comments is a decent midway solution to this. If someone is really so desperate to remove all their comments and traces from this site, they gonna work for it. Otherwise simply hibernate and leave. I personally feel it's a good middle path :)

On bold.

Usually during discussion member B quotes member A. (Earlier in tower quotes, member C would have quoted member B who in turn would have quoted member A).

When member A gets banned, only the message posted from his/her account disappears. But on the quote (where B or C have quoted A), message still remains. So discussion will not be abrupt. (Same thing would apply to “delete all posts” too).

This is my personal opinion. Still if it is not possible, I will consider other options.

( Just a suggestion with quoting. Not related to deleting account). Like in Whatsapp and Twitter, a feature can be added. If a person clicks on the post where one has quoted, it takes to the place where the original post appeared.
