You seem to be stuck in the past when SRK fans pissed you off very badly for something and you're still venting out for that.

Three words : Get Over It!!!

So we only have to tell stories which caters to people that are " non probeamatic " ? It was very clear even while audience were in the movie theatre how horrible the dad is. No one thought he was an ideal dad.

DDLJ gets the heat because dimwits like Anupama Chopra and her cozy circle have problems with "Probelmatic elements" from others movies vs her own movies and SRK and clan she is pally with.

These exact same ppl are celebrating 25 years of DDLJ and preaching us gandhigiri through SANJU baba.

Namaste London was entertaining . No one in this world has changed their parenting style only after watching the movie.

I guess 'Gone with the wind' , Godfather' name the greatest movie ever made will have problematic things . Why do we expect Utopia in movies ...when there is none in real life.

ya gone with the wind has been criticised heavily for showing a whitewashed picture of slavery. almost tlas if the slaves were very happy with slavery . Its really eye opening

Yes but more than that it was patriarchal, male dominance and racist. Worst character was Rishi's Manmohan. Not only did he insult his wife but also forces his daughter to marry a person who is a disconnect with her upbringing and personality. What if just like Manmohan mistreated his wife, Arjun too would mistreat Jas?

And there was no need to shun down British culture where Manmohan willingly went to settle down.

Only the song " Main Jahan Rahoon" was good.

I reckon you’re referring to my reply on the other post . If it wasn’t cleared , I was talking in reference to the bashing posts on movies like KKHH , DDLJ on monthly basis .

yes, its regressive and entertaining . Progressive and entertaining is welcome . Progressive and boring movie is a NO-NO for audience.

Film industry itself is full of sexist, misogynist and hateful people. Most of their progressive talk is aneways half baked.

Personally speaking , i dont think any of them(actors/ directors/writers) are qualified to send or give a regular person any message. Pretty sure , all of us know what is right and wrong.

A film at best can show mirror to society . I would never watch a film maker's movie if he intends to give me a message.

Well to me, it was so infuriatingly backwards for its time (seriously it’s not like it’s a movie from the 70s or something that you’d expect this... in fact most 70s movies I’ve seen weren’t so messed up 🤦🏽‍♀️)... that it was no longer entertaining.

And it is absolutely untrue that progressive movies have to be boring (and are therefore flops), and regressive flicks are always entertaining (hence they are hits)...

Most of the big hit films nowadays (and even as far back as 70s and 80s) aren’t really that regressive imo...

Look at movies like K3G and Kal Ho Na Ho... shallow, cheesy, plasticky for sure, but still entertaining 🤷🏽‍♀️

And though they never went out of their way to be “progressive” as such, not remotely sexist/regressive either, and they became huge hits at the BO.

On the other hand, plenty of blatantly regressive movies were rejected by the audience in recent times... Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya (old Salman Khan film that was super backwards, worse than NL even) was a huge flop, Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana (more recent film that was better than the other two tbf but not great ) also didn’t do that well... in fact from what I can see, most overtly backwards/chauvinist movies have been flopping in BW since the mid 90s or so... so most people seem to agree with me 🤷🏽‍♀️

As for the idea that movies shouldn’t have a message, and you’ll never watch a movie with a message... I hate to break it to you, but literally EVERY movie has some sort of message, be it Hollywood, Bollywood, Tollywood, any other wood 😂

All the purely commercial masala movies have a message. The silliest of candy floss Kjo movies have a message. Even utterly ridiculous movies like Jaani Dushman and Deshdrohi have some sort of message at their core. It’s just a question of which messages you are ok with and which you are not ok with (or if in some cases you love the actors or other things about the movie enough to ignore the message)...

And as for the last part, I absolutely disagree that “all of us know right from wrong”. We just need to open a newspaper, or even look around our own family circle/friends’ circle to know that is definitely not the case. Plenty of people have poor morals.

But again it’s a question of how an individual defines morals, at the end of the day we all do it differently (though there are some issues most people would agree on)...

I agree though that writers, actors, directors etc aren’t anymore qualified than your average Joe to tell us right from wrong, or give us (the public) a message.

But the fact is, whenever a film is made, a message is given out. It is ultimately entirely up to us which message we accept, and which message we reject.

Yeah exactly...

I love and respect my parents, but just because my parents like someone that doesn’t mean I should like them.

Plus it’s utterly cruel imo to (by choice) put your child in a certain environment, but demand that they behave totally different to the people they meet in that environment...

Desi parents in the west who do that are completely wrong and unfair. They should have just remained in the subcontinent.
