This Aamir movie also needs to be questioned.

Aamir called me to make this thread seeing how only SRK and Akshay movies are getting bashed on this forum.

Here I'm not picking up any 90s film of Aamir, for which he now feels embarrassed, not genuinely but because it's not good for his image.

I'm talking about Rang De Basanti, a critically acclaimed film of Aamir.

My question is, were DJ and his friends right in killing the defense minister? Their only reason to kill him was because he bad-mouthed about their deceased friend Ajay on TV, by calling him "nausikhiya" and blaming him for his own death instead of bad quality jets.

Was that reason enough to kill him? What proof they had of defense minister being corrupt and that he indeed imported cheap parts for the aircrafts? Only rumours which could even be spread by rival parties to malign his image?

And what's the solution for this? Kill him and become vigilantes? So the movie is supporting vigilantism? That's right, kill anyone that you don't find innocent to serve your own version of Justice.

While I dont suppot the killing , the badmouthed and called ajay a noob pilot who died while saving lives of innocents to overcome his shortcomings as a minister . They knew the "system" is corrupt and will never get justice for Ajay after her mother was beaten up by police during protests.

No, It was cold-blooded murder and can not be justified. In our civil society today, we do not even treat hard criminals like this. We are not barbaric society.

Assassination is dangerous thing. If it happens in quick succession then it can destabilise a country. Lucky that no one got inspired by the movie..else country could go into turmoil. Fast tracking corruption cases, especially in the higher echelons is the way to deal with the politicians.

The TM had made a post on black Friday - not related to this topic

One of the key takeaways from the movie was that josh mein aake hosh nahi khona chahiye.. Especially if someone is stirring up your emotions in the name of religion, belief or something else.

Tiger Memon incited a few poor youth in the name of riots and made them participate in the Bombay blasts... He escaped with his acolytes, leaving the footsoldiers high and dry. I don't sympathize with them but this is what happens when people get incited and act upon it- not relevant in this context but the fate of the guys left behind makes me wonder how dispensible we are to the big guys.-unrelated observation

When I saw the movie (I was young, in school) I liked it. One of my teachers told us that the assassination done is not right. I thought he is older (than us) so he doesn’t understand what us “youngsters” feel. But growing up, I realized I was wrong in my thinking.

This post below is on point and sums up what I feel.

Life imitate art is the theme in the film.Another film that comes to my memory, a bit obliquely on that theme is Asghar Farhadi's The Salesmen.

From the context of a story woven around Bhagat Singh assassinating someone and then surrendering. It doesn't take much see that it was just a metaphor in the context of how the story was told.

I feel your view is a single minded perspective and just for the sake of it.

The defense minister's involvement in corruption case of poor quality MIG planes was established in the four scenes of the eatery where the group hang out, right from the start of the film.Ajay was not the first pilot to have lost his life due to poor quality of MIG planes, there were many before him.The defense minister brushed it down by calling the pilots irresponsible, calling them "nausikea".A peaceful protest was disrupted with lathi charge due to which Ajay's mother ended up in coma.

Eventually they realise that assassinating him only complicated the problem, hence they come to confess their crime at the studio where they had to pay for it with their lives .

There was condemnation of the act by those committing it. Karan answers a listeners question where he explicitly says that their actions were wrong and we have committed as a last resort in a moment of desperation. You dont have to go on a shooting spree. The change must happen in you . Don't ignore the problems in the system. Join military, politics, IAS, police...and do the needful for your country.

The change within. If you need change, you need to start with yourself. The essence of RDB.
