. Bashing a girl for drinking/smoking (not because it's bad for her health), but just because she's a girl
. A girl wanting to move out of her parents' house without marriage is wrong
. A girl becoming "westernised" (for no reason other than growing up in the west) is wrong
. Then worst of all, justifying the acts of parents who forcibly get their daughters married off to strangers without their consent, and showing girls that use legal help to escape such situations as wrong
. Somehow trying to wrap their regressive fears about girls in the west as patriotism for India
It’s just a movie đŸ˜†
An I’m sorry I felt more for when Jazz tricked Arjun than what they did to her.
Arjun was innocent đŸ˜‡ Jazz was đŸ˜ˆ

Because Indian culture is sanskari and British culture is unsanskari.
Her parents were Indian, so she too is an Indian by heart. Doesn't matter if she was born and stayed her whole life in India. Her roots are Indian
Movie logic, not mine.
Lol what about "westernised" (modern and forward thinking) Indians in India?
Delusional people like Jazz's dad would be sorely disappointed if they witnessed the lifestyle of well to do urban youth in today's India đŸ˜†

I'm not even one of those people that finds every next movie regressive, but this one was too much...
I did feel bad for Arjun as he was a good person... but he liked Jazz from the beginning and wanted this wedding...
Jazz never even liked Arjun, she was being forced to marry him against her will... I felt much worse for her and I can happily say I would have done exactly what she did in that situation.

Yeah the other guy was a racist asshole and Arjun was a decent guy... but that doesn't make Jazz's dad's actions in the beginning correct, or make her wrong for being westernised
How was he racist?

But in the end she chose Arjun. Everyone was willing to let her have the happy ending she wanted snd she chose Arjun.
That was a twist

Urban youth in India existed even in those days when the movie released. Jazz's dad would just call them brainwashed Indians who got influenced by glitz and glamour of West.

100 percent regressive. I feel for Katrina's character
Me too... she just wanted to fit in in the society she lived in... what is so wrong with that?
And her parents fell so very low by fooling her into going to India for "sightseeing" and then forcing her into marriage with a stranger đŸ¤¢

They did, and that's exactly my point.
Desis in the west who bemoan their kids getting "westernised" and think youth in India are all super duper sanskari and talk like they are in a historical drama đŸ¤£
They need a reality check and that's what DDLJ showed perfectly
