Asad Ahmed Khan.
A classic example of a self-made, principle-bound man. He's been hurt by the very person who should have loved him most, made to leave his brother whom he himself had raised, and made to take care of mother and sister since he was a kid. So, he rid himself of emotions, to worldly pleasures. His anger knows no bounds and he's not to be crossed with. He lives by the rule that emotions waste you away and practical thinking will only give him success. He has made a name of himself. The people who took away his happiness now envy it, scared of his tenacity, sincerity, and complete dedication towards his family and work. He has grown up too fast, he has had to forget what it is to actually live. Therefore, he has a set of rules and regulations to go by. A type of OCD that he cannot help.
But. But. His heart is as soft as melting wax for his family, his dear brother who he spoils rotten. He would do anything, absolutely anything for his Ammi and Tamatar and other sisters, and vice versa. Yes, he makes them follow his rules of lehaaz, tehzeeb and tameez, and they do abide by them. Why shouldn't they? It's all in the name of unconventional love. All his life is dedicated towards taking care of his family, isn't it only fair that they let him have his control? (Yes we can argue that they should be able to do what they want. He does let them, just in control. Never says no). He has only his family to love. And that's enough for him.
Asad doesn't believe in love.
"Ishq waqt zaya karne ka zariya hai"
He has seen his Ammi cry for a man who left her. He has seen that man happy with another person. How is that love? How can it be anything but a way to let more pain enter his life? He has had enough of it for a lifetime already. He doesn't want it. His life is happy as it is.
But who can stop the winds to blow, and flowers to blossom?
When he fell in love, he fights it with everything he has, his brain, his anger, his uncalled rude remarks, anything to keep the love from showing, keep the heart from wanting. He would hurt as he was hurting, he would inflict the pain he was feeling. Why not? Asad has known no other type of love. But ultimately, he lets go, when it becomes too much, let himself fall. Eyes closed and heart open. The most beautiful feeling ever. And he has another person to love, a person in his life who loves him.
Karan had outdone himself as Asad. The rage and pain in his eyes, still hurts us. His always clutching his forehead on Zoya's shayaris are legendary, and oh so cute!! The subtle head tilts and half smiles of his, gave us butterflies in the stomach. His eyes. It's always in the eyes no?
Do not get me started on the OCD and the perfectionist that Asad was, completely opposite our favourite beautiful mess Karan. 😍 (I wonder how hard it was to be so Akdu when he's so cool in reality!)
We wish nothing else but the best for the reboot. Hopefully we will get the happy ending for Asad as we always wanted. That guy deserves it the most. ❤️
I want a story. man nahi bharta itne se
