Madhuri acted in a bunch of flops until finding success with Tezaab. Someone who didn't want to do movies would've quit after the first one.

She was always ambitious, even in college. If she got offers she'd obviously do it.

anushka got a huge debut with yash raj and srk, her solo films without stars is a flop.

I consider self made when you did movies without big banners and without big directors, started out in low budget movies and became star like ayushmann or srk, irfan and vidya in tv shows first

I know...... I don’t understand why most of the actresses lie about this? What’s wrong in saying that I passionately pursued acting and succeeded.

Recently, I saw an interview of Anushka, where she’s lying through her teeth about not giving any auditions before her first film, while there are several videos of her giving auditions for some movies b4 that film🤣

So true.

Big banners, big and established co-stars, PR relationships and bluff stardom.

Everything except talent. And yet Alia and Katrina are the only ones who are not self made.

Self-made is not about low budgets or unknown banners. Self-made is definitely not about talent. Self-made is if she made it on her own merit, whatever that merit might be - acting skills, beauty, networking.

Calling Deepika not self-made is ridiculous. This is coming from someone who thinks she's a terrible actress. She succeeded on the basis of her star quality and her ability to stay in the news. Production companies hired her because of it. Regardless, she did it on her own because the producers didn't GIVE her those qualities, merely utilized what she brought with her to the table. That none of the big producers gave Ayushman a chance does not make Deepika not self-made. It means they didn't think his presence would bring them a profit.

Alia, OTOH, has had most of her projects handed to her because of KJo. Some he offered money as a producer so she'd be included. That's the exact opposite of what Deepika's rise was like. He seems to be trying to put it about that Alia DOES have that star quality since her acting (above average) is not really what BW cares about.

Not sure how to categorize Katrina.

I agree. What I was disagreeing with is the notion Madhuri never wanted to do films. Oh, it just happened 😆. Reminds of my classmates back when who used to claim they never cracked open a textbook and still somehow managed to score high.

And if we compare anushka and deepika, both debuted with srk but deepika made herself a superstar because her movies without srk was a hit, she did had flops but there are blockbuster movies without khan, same can't be said for anushka. I would say Deepika before she got married to rs she was the biggest star but now that she is married, I don't know about her stardom, I think she is losing it. They really don't have a female that stands out as like a superstar right now, it's declining. But katrina is great in item songs, I think nora is stealing her spotlight for that item girl, nora can actually dance.
