Abhishek seems like an ungrateful person. Satyen paid the ticket for father and son and he doesn't even want to talk to the guy?

I made kesari yesterday, I am inviting people over the whole entire week, two this evening, 3 tomm evening, some next Friday, sat and sunday, just being careful about social distancing etc. We set our golu yesterday.

I made gajar ka halwa today and idli sambar and the big chana for sundal.

Kids love the pomp and show. Typical Desi kids I think, just want to go to social events or have people over at home. Har weekend koi highlight chahiye I should live in a city crammed with Desis I think

So I try to be on top of my game, Its quite exhausting I agree. I am social too sadly so I cannot complain too much

My cleaning lady came today so saved me a bit, but still a lot of other arranging work.

Yes he still has her earring.

My sister gave me a recipe for besan, ghee, coconut and sugar, its a cross between cocnut burfi and mysore pak. I HATE the dry mysore pak, it tastes like chalk, but the grated cocnut keeps it moist for weeks (yeah if the sweet lasts a week😛)

My kids call it Chithi burfi

Let me find it in my WhatsApp and post it here

Its easy to make

How did your badam burfi become pasty? Whenever that happens I put it back on the wok and stove and churn it until it starts leaving the sides and reddens

Then its easy to cut

Try that if you want

I know what you mean about toning it down, I made a new friend (I have known her for 20 years, but reconnected) both her kids are severely disabled, neurological and mental

She was telling me how she fears going anywhere because she just cannot stand people competing over their kids

It was like a slap in the face to me😒 not that I am the loudest in a room or anything, but made me realize how she has been denied even simple pleasures of visiting friends, or keeping golu

Yes... gratitude and kindness are the most important. The loudest party the most invitees, the biggest golu, the most variety of food

None of it has any meaning

Konjam ghee kudi pocchu and I now know took it a min early off the stove. Was a little impatient . We sat down to have lunch. Got up about three hrs ltr and put it back on the stove and got the padham for burfi.

You are right, needed a little more time to get non pasty

Prohibition

Abhishek was nowhere to be found

Viveka was busy assigning jobs to caterers in her teacherlike take charge sort of way

She didn’t even see him as usual, her back was turned tohim

“Teach at the same school?” he probed

“No, he teaches at SSW I… me at JNU” she smiled cheerfully

She was wearing a mustard yellow saree with a black borderand a simple but sexy black almost backless blouse, her low knot caressing herupper back deliciously

She wore little jewelry except earrings or nose rings, he noticed she treated the help with kindnessand respect and actually helped clean out an area where there was a spill

“Are u listening?” Satyen demanded

“Oh yes” he mumbled turning to Mr Karmakar

“In all the jet lag he managed to work with HR and give mewhat the post alliance Caterpillar joint team head count is going to look like.I missed him so much the last two weeks beta”

“That’s great” Raanav nodded humbly

“Caterpillar is a great alliance partner sir”

“Par aapne mujhe itni jaldi HR se report banwakar diya kiheadcount ki situation kya honey waali hai, I was flying in the blind Mehulji,am I going to hire 50? 100? Is Caterpillar loaning me 200 people 500 people?ZERO visibility” “BTW Mehulji, Fibertek Kabel APAC se raanav milkar aaya twoweeks pehle Consular ke office mein… the guy said the exact same thing youmentioned”

Raanav was of course again distracted

She was deep in conversation with who seemed like a veryagitated Abhsiek

She was her usual cool, pleasant self

“Raanav?” Satyen looked in the direction his son wasgazing

“Yep?” Raanav turned toward Mr Karmakar

“Did you share what Mr Ming Wee had to say?” Satyenprodded

Raanav explained

“Who to ho jaayega sir” Mehul was polite and nodded as hepromised

“Don’t get the whole paperwork done, just the terms ofagreement” Raanav explained seriously

Satyen turned to his son, and turned back to the youngcouple standing far away

“Aap mile beta Abhishek se, he has completed his Ph D”

“Great” Raanav said blandly

“Sir abhi milwata hoon” Mehul sprinted towards the food, and tried to find his son and his friend

And 20 minutes later, Satyen realized even tho Raanav wasimpatient he just went on his phone waiting for Mr Karmakar to return

“Have you met my son Sir?” Mr Karmakar asked politely

Viveka smiled a knowing smile upon seeing Raanav, fatherand son looked completely out of place not only because of their height andtheir looks but also their clothes and demeanor

It was simple middle class private society

The father son duo looked like royalty

He twitched his lips for the very first time as he noddedat her

“Sir?” Mr Karmakar called out “This is my son”

“Umm yeah?” Raanav nodded not even looking at Abhishek

“My son” Karmakar “He completed his Ph D”

“Oh” Raanav did not fake sincerity

Abhishek began to speak a long paragraph in Marathi

Mr Karmakar looked a little uncomfortable

He waved down a waiter to serve drinks, Satyen took abottle of water… Raanav declined

“Sir drinks nahi lenge?” Karmakar asked politely

“No… no… dinner karna hai”

“Aur aap sir” Karmakar asked Raanav

“I am good thanks” Raanav tucked his hands in his pocketand nodded politely

“Aap mile ho beta?” Satyen asked

“Umm.. I don’t know” “Actually” raanav said coolly, not botheringo look at Abhishek’s face

“INSE?” satyen joked politely letting his hand hover nearViveka’s shoulder

“Funny Dad” he chuckled

‘Oh no… main aapko introduce karne waala tha”

“she visited one evening to pick up her Mom” he said dryly

Viveka was laughing at Raanav, and at Satyen for the waythe father was mocking his son

“AAP mile ho beta?”

“Many times… the last time we had a heated argument inKamla Nagar” she laughed gloriously over what constitutes minimum wage

“We met last night at Harsha’s” he said firmly

“Uff… oh yeah” she nodded embarrassedly

Abhishek and Mehul had gone off to attend to some cateringissue, leaving the Parashars and Viveka

“Aap kaise bhool gayin hamare bete ko?” Satyen demanded

Viveka laughed again, amused

It irritated Raanav that she was thinking it was africking joke

“Kal milo inse to aaj ki mulaqaat yaad rakhna” “beta”Satyen warned

“Are u going to test me?” she asked throwing her head backand laughing again

“Hum karenge aapko call” Satyen promised

Raanav found her even more attractive the way she hadfirmly tucked her saree pallu in her waist, and was not afraid to get her handsdirty at some a-----e’s grad party

“Aap bhi same topic mein kar rahe hain Ph D?” Satyen wasnosy

“Oh no… he did his social work”

“Yes very accomplished” Satyen nodded proudly

“I met him in SSW, weve known each other 2 months now?”she smiled

“Well he is a lucky man” Satyen agreed, looking at hisringing phone

Abhishek returned and ignored Raanav, Satyen took a phonecall

Placed an arm around Viveka’s waist to say something inher ear after gathering her close

Viveka chafed from the touch… and accidentally made eyecontact with Raanav at that moment

“So that’s OK na… tell your Dad” “I spoke to Mr Gupta, he issaying he can do a plate and a half charge for anything over 200 plates” “Abhidouble nahi le rahe Mr Gupta” Viveka explained gently putting a distance betweenthem

“Tu chal na… keh de Baba ko… mujhe bacha le meri jaan” hewas irritated at his Baba

Her phone rang it was Papa

“Haan Papa” she lifted a finger to indicate she will goover after the call

She finished talking to her Papa and hung up

“You are dating HIM?” Raanav was FURIOUS

“Yeah?” she said crinkling her eyes pushing her glassesup, all confused

“Serious?” he was hissing real smoke thru his nostril

“He is NOT related to you” Viveka pleaded sincerelylooking up at him

“Whoaa?” he wanted to shake her and carry her off

“I asked him he said he is not related”

“You ASKED him? Did u say I suspected it?”

“Yeah… you were the one worried right”

He rubbed his forehead exasperated

She was gorgeous AND nerdy and CLUELESS

“I am happy you feel the urge to involve yourself with theMathur girls but we are really doing OK” she laughed looking into his eyes

Those eyes!!

He couldn’t wait to yank those glasses off

“Whoaa”

“His Dad works for your Dad I get it… I really do….unless you have aemployment contract where your employees children are prohibited from datingsingle middle class women, you should just chill” she laughed again

“Umm.. eh” umm..herubbed his forehead and ran his fingers through his hair and yanked his smoothwell parted hair, and sighed audibly

“You have no authority over Naina or I” she said grimly

“Can we talk some place else?” he demanded

“Umm.. no… I am his friend… he graduated… I have to bewith him here celebrating”

She composed herself and smiled weakly, he was inches fromher

“OK fine… he said and looked down at his phone, and almostpunched a hole answering it, and walking away out of the comm center

She froze in shock

Bholi Naina 😆

Bua feeding Viveka while gossiping about is my favorite part here..

I used to stay in a hostel in the same city as my bua, would run to her on weekends to escape hostel food and she'd pamper me just the same way! ❤️ Now I'm so missing my aunts whom I couldn't meet this year due to Covid! 😭

Also, I loved how Satyen spoke of their upcoming meeting! 😊 As if telling her.. bhulna mat! We too have a plan and you're supposed to show up there as well 🤣

Can wait for the cat to be out of the bag. Is Raanav ready to pounce on his prey?

Nisha, one more please.

Paavam andha phone! Feel cho sho sorry for it.

It's nearly cruel Nisha ! You have left us hanging stopping it here!

Satyen quickly summed up viveka and abhishek's status. I felt he hid his disappointment and was really sweet to viveka and still keep it as normal as he only can .

Raanav by his reaction has stunned viveka. There's more to this than meets the eye. Hope Raanav and satyen can whisk her off in their car.
