Don't know if most people ever noticed this while watching the movie, and if they noticed can't tell if it bothered them or not. Because I don't see this aspect of the film ever getting criticized.
In the movie, Naina's dysfunctional family was mainly dysfunctional because of Naina's mother Jennifer and grandmother Lajjo always being at loggerheads. Reasons for Lajjo not liking Jennifer was her being a Christian getting married into a Sikh family, and bringing her religion and culture along with her into the family. Also because of Jenny adopting a child Gia who was an orphan. Later we get to know that she was a result of her own son's extra-marital affair.
Here it becomes a little bit problematic because it seems like the only reason Lajjo accepted Gia as her grandchild was because she was from her bloodline. The logic that uski ragon mein bhi wohi khoon daud raha hain, jo meri ragon mein hain, ab chahe wo ganda khoon hi kyun na ho.
Yeah, I agree that Lajjo truly realized her mistake and accepted Jenny as her daughter-in-law after knowing her own son's doing...and how Jenny hid this ugly truth even if she had to take the blame for her husband's death. She beared it all like an Ekta Kapoor bahu. So it was bound to happen that Lajjo will accept her after knowing the truth, but her also accepting Gia seems more like an extension, of her accepting the child because Jenny accepted her, and also that she too was her son's biological child.
This gave out a wrong message indirectly that it's only biological children which are truly worth of your love, and not the orphans or adopted kids.
