Rupali Ganguly Appreciation Post

Hello! This is my first post in this forum.

I must admit, I am not a huge fan of this show or the concept. I only watch it because my mother does lol. I've been watching it with her for nearly 2 weeks now and I just want to pour out my appreciation for Rupali Ganguly. 🤗

For starters, if there's one thing common between most ITV serials , it is their mediocrity. Mediocre scripts, mediocre character arcs and mediocre performances. When it comes to scripts and character arcs, Anupama is no different but if there's a saving grace for this show and if there's somebody who just lifts the show 4-5 notches higher, it's undoubtedly Rupali Ganguly. Whenever she's on screen in any avatar, be it emotional or playful or fiery, she just STEALS the scene. It becomes so hard to take your eyes off her. 👍🏼 And what makes all of this even more commendable is the fact that Rupali doesn't have much to work with. Anupama Shah isn't a particularly interesting character. In fact, you have characters like that in 2-3 other shows like Shaadi Mubarak and India ki Maa. I'm convinced that had it been ANY other actress playing Anupama, I would've been so annoyed with the constant tyag and rona-dhona but somehow Rupali as Anupama is never annoying. 👏

I have to talk about the scene three days ago when the family was wishing Anupama and Vanraj on their anniversary and she broke down and hugged Baa. That was an incredible performance. You just felt her pain. I wanted to hug her. The entire sequence was owned by Rupali. Another brilliant scene was her exchange with Rakhi during the engagement and her beating that boy who misbehaved with Pakhi. That fire, my goodness! 👏

Lastly, I've been re-watching Sarabhai vs Sarabhai these days and with what ease she pulls of two vastly different characters like Monisha Sarabhai and Anupama Shah. It really doesn't matter that these two shows are 15 years apart. 👍🏼

I hope the CVs do justice to Rupali's talent and make an incredible graph for Anupama's character. She is absolutely brilliant with the limited scope that the script allows her. As I said, Anupama isn't a 'unique' character by any stretch of imagination but Rupali makes her SEEN. I can't even imagine how amazing she's going to be when she's written in a more fleshed out way. I cannot wait to see how this all pans out. 😃

Completely agree with your post. Without Rupali i don't think so show would go that much well. she just steal the show👏

totally agree with your all points i said same always , show concept is not new its come many in television what make Anupama different among all is Rupali mam acting as Anupama and her scene presence is soo strong you cant take off eyes from her performance even i hate lead ke rona dhona but Anupama ke rona dhona pe idk i cant hate that but i genuinely feel bad for Anupama why because its rupali mam acting u cant hate that but you can strongly connect with that

Rupali has excelled herself in her performances so far... be it her breaking down to Devika, to embracing hugging her mother in law and her protection of Pakhi at the engagement, and the one where Toshu comes home drunk, that whole scene with Anupamaa finally raising her voice and hitting Toshu was so well done.

Her acting is simple yet extraordinary.

I can't believe she is the same Rupali who used to make me laugh as Monisha Sarabhai. I laughed so hard because of her. Today the same Rupali is making me emotional as Anupama Shah. But still Monisha is Monisha. I still love her very much as Monisha. When the name Rupali Ganguly strikes, the character comes to my mind is Monisha. But must say that the show is bearable because of Rupali as Anupama. Simple yet amazing
