I don't think it has anything to do with rhea per say. If at all planting has happened, they all knew Sushant was so low that anyone who would have said the right things at the right moment to give him that sense of security and emotional stability or any sort of distraction from the pain he was in, would have gotten easy entry in his life.

Rhea being a probable peddler served the purpose even more.

They (whosoever) expected a rebound.
