Robin & Robber
Satyen was eager and overjoyed to meet Viveka
Viveka just looked distracted, crinkling her eyes to fightthe sunshine in the gorgeous center courtyard, she had not seen so much whiteconverge in a home space ever before, white marble floor, white pillars, sparkling white walls with original modern art oils
“Aapki Ma tab se ghar jaane ko keh rahi hain, I told her ifyou come pick her up I can allow it”
“Oh?” she looked at him confused
“I am happy you came” he said mischievously
“Its my mother” Viveka said dead serious
Anubha watched that exchange from a distance she had noidea why Satyen was so eager about Viveka
“was he going to offer her a job?”
“that would be so awesome, she can abandon PhD and make alot of money and marry and settle down”
Anu groaned as her dreams grew wings and floated up nearthe fountain
“How was your event?” Satyen asked sincerely
She proceeded to tell him about what the event was about
“I don’t work or offer my services for SEWA but to anotherwomen’s cooperative, I help the Program Manager understand how we can enablesome form of social safety net. We don’t have the name recognition orpopularity of SEWA so it’s a long hard road, I was invited to speak on thetopic”
“That’s fantastic”
“I can show you the numbers I shared” “I promise its not onmy phone” she laughed eagerly
Satyen nodded indulgently
She pulled out the biggest stack of papers, and flippedthrough a glossy power point presentation explaining everything, her glassesslid down, she held it with the back of her hand, tucked her pallu, whileshoving the hanging tote strap up her shoulder
He was not playing along, he actually asked good questions
He even waved off a help that offered more chai to her andhim
After 20 or so minutes of back and forth
He looked at her and removed his glasses, and rubbed hereyes
“At that growth rate without some kind of a subsidy I do ntthink you can afford a health card”
“Jaanti hoon sir, that’s why I am proposing…”she pushed herglasses up her nose
Anubha was dumbfounded, Viveka had no sense of whos whowhen it came to her issues
She was oblivious to the sheer opulence around her, she didn’teven realize men like Satyen probably employed slave labor, at home and attheir factories
“I can give you two great resources you can work with, inmy Corporate Sustainability alias Philanthropy department that can advise you”
“Oh?” “Umm”
“Don’t be like your mother and say no to everything beta”he gently tapped her elbow
Viveka turned to her mother
“CHALO” her mother ordered inaudibly
Savita was on her phone with Smrita, there was no hope now
She better escape before Smrita herself walked in
“Jee Ma”
“thanks sir… I can stay in touch… thank you tho” Viveka gotthe hint, he asked her about India’s GDP projection, not willing to let go ofher, she was delighted to talk about what kept her up at night… not men, notclothes, not Tiktok, not Bollywood/Hollywood heroes, but her single mindedfocus of the development sector
She turned without looking and bumped into a tall humanobject leaning on a pillar
“Playing robin hood again?” he mocked
Satyen was blocking Anubha and talking to her
“No actually… I was explaining…. She began in the mostengaging way pushing her glasses up herbridge …to talk about how a 1% GDP shock in China led to overall lower economicgrowth everywhere, and how India might not be affected much because India’strade link is much weaker”
After a point he was just lost in her eyes, he could notmuster up any legit insult
Satyen turned towards her and Anubha and Satyen foundthemselves looking at the young couple
After an awkward moment Anubha cleared her throat, andlooked away
They looked absolutely gorgeous together, both aboveaverage height and lean and intellectually hungry and unforgiving, andambitious. Their bodies just the perfect fit..
And then there was Smrita Parashar and then there was theguy himself…. Raanav
When pigs fly!
Akash called her in response to the hammering he receivedover text about Savita dragging her over here
She stepped away to get it
Satyen made a call too
“There will be no incentive for capitalism if you wanteveryone to have the same amount of money. Its hard for you socialists tounderstand that” he said
“No I do… I am saying eventually the supply of labor toyour factories (air quotes) will dry up if the poor dies of diseases andstarvation!” “They don’t call capitalists robber baron for nothing” she saidwith a smile
“Do you even know who you are talking to?” he asked inshock
“Umm.. a lawyer? Umm. Yeah?”
“Nobody has ever dared speak to me this way”
“Oh! It has to start some where” she chuckled bending downto pick up her Ma’s purse
Veev is legit💥🔥
I absolutely admire her for being able to defend her stand
This story is just lovely
Oh! It has to start some where” she chuckled bending downto pick up her Ma’s purse
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I really really like Viveka. I like Anubha too. Very nice and different adaptation of Pride & prejudice. Till now I have not found even one quality that I like in Ranav. Hope to see some more of his character than just his snobbish nature.
The dude got a much deserved dressing down. It did have to start somewhere, and it started with her.
Lawyers. Corporate lawyers and bankers.... the very words in my head make me go 'ok maintain social distance kalpana'. I'm trying to crack myself up here but I know that it's a kind of prejudice that I , may be most of us carry out of wariness. We demonize them and it's a pity , though there might be more people in the world who more deserve our empathy than these folks.
And then there are reformers who dedicate themselves majorly to causes that need rebellion to create an awareness as a first step to change and uplift
I personally cannot envision a life neither as a corporate lawyer pouting over contracts and fine prints nor can I see myself to be a reformer. One requires a specific skill set and another require a great heart and mind for service. Skills , knowledge function at various levels. So hats off to both. But I know I can be an enabler to these causes within my means.
Economic freedom and free markets are a must for any economy IMO and so Is dignity of labor. Governments can't and shouldn't be all controlling. They at best can only be regulators. Sweat economy?!. Where's the economic freedom there ? Slave labor , sweat nation and no dignity of labor.
What capitalism needs to learn to accommodate is dignity of labor and that's where Raanav kinds need to change and respect that.
Oh yeah!
The most exciting thing . Just look at the people here guys . Look at the levels of improbability of the pairing ....Gawd! Viveka living with raanav in that kind of a dwelling! Yeah right! When pigs fly!
But you know what ! Her frequency with karamkar Dude presently may be a lit up cracker waiting to go boom and may be her paring with Raanav is a damp squib , wet coal kinds but give the squib some insulation and then it has the potential to blast the coal out Of the rock. May be in the world of pride and prejudice with a 'twist ' the Pigs can sprout some wings !😳
BTW in all this talk of flying pigs, just as their improbable pairing, an equal world within the gambit of socialism and capitalism is a flying pig. At least Amreeka is not ready to let Sanders play Robin. Last night how crazy was that! If that wasn't a staged one, I don't know what is! A reality show gone wrong!!!
I couldnt watch last night Kalps, I was writing my story, I didnt have any Asia calls so I am like "Chuck it!"
Neither are worthy of my attention. One is a Dem stooge, the other, a complete psycho and nut case.
Iam disappointed for all those people like us who work hard, pay their taxes and cant even get a decent person in office
Kamala is another corrupt amoral POS. I am ashamed she is an Iyer/Tamilian/Indian.
I am going to write in my choice as freehand
