Critique and opposition are important in any democracy.

As for the Times article, I have felt this long before this article was published.

I'm not a muslim or minority but India is established as a secular state. No single community deserves to be targeted or singled out. The fact that he hasn't been able to give any legitimate interviews after the infamous Thapar one, is he eluding questions? Why not face the questions from everyone if he is just an honest PM, free from propaganda and doesn't run a blind eye to his party's wrong doing?

For good or for bad,

my problem with this minortiy logic is (and this goes beyond india)

at times minorities get to reap in benefits that are not truly well deserved at the sacrifice of majorities..

following are some examples, and they are not little matters - you need to seek balance.. India survives against all odds because of its flexibility and that needs to be cherished.. every religion, creed needs to have its own freedom but not at the expense of others

- why other religions can be critiqued and you can't utter a single word against the obvious fallacies of islamic system?

- what is minority? And why should religion come before nationalism?

- reservation and a big WHY (and who is truly benefiting from it)

- why the fear to critique anything just because riots will happen or because they will drag you from your house and beat you up (latest shiv sena incident)

- Media narrative and vote bank politics - people talk about godhra, no one talks about how it started when 11 hindus were burnt alive

- Why should brahmins keep paying and struggling for lower casts (and then one rich lower caste family keeps raking in benefits with real poor folks not able)

- the whole system of meet our demands else we will get violent - gujjars have done this in past, mumbai when they started targeting biharis, when you sit in a group and all bengalis gang up, all south indians form their min group... all of that is subtle negativity (these cliques in professional, personal setups - and regional prejudice runs DEEP)

- why christianity and how they have expanded is put under the scanner

etc etc..

So, no.. anyone trying to paint the picture that 370 abolition is bad, or muslims are targeted in India is lying through their teeth.. communal riots have been instigated from multiple sides (rather idiots paid up by some political party or the other)

Modi govt.. has its major issues, BJP has bigger issue (advani is one of the sickest politican ever, they have murderers onboard, ABV also had his own issues... yada yada).. but this govt. has its upsides also, specially in comparison with congress..

What irks me is when people just switch on "bhakti" comments without giving the govt. its due. AND WORST, these "critiques" are nothing but cribbing.. all of you are thinking individual and understand how India's position is unique.. so stop cribbing and come up with solutions..

Unemployment is a very real very important very very critical concern. COME UP WITH SOLUTIONS THAT CAN ACTUALLY SHOW SOME LIGHT TO GOVT POLICY MAKERS

Study sociology and history as a subject and you will find answers to all those questions.

Also, its responsibility of the government to come up with solutions and implement them. All we can do is critique and vote, that's all we will do. We are not the ones governing the country but we can pout out what the got right and what they didn't.
