Some Statistics on Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon Forum (16.09.2020)

When the announcement of IPKKND forum closure came, the first thing everyone asked is, Why?

According to most of us this forum is the most active forum - though I haven’t been on others, a quick glance indicated so. Then why?

Yes, we are all coming here once every day (or more sometimes). We see activity. Some of us are writing FFs, reading FFs, discussing about them and helping fellow readers in finding FF titles. Writers, who have decided to take a break after November 2012, are dropping by and some of them have even started writing stories again. We are suggesting stories to read. We are visiting Birthday threads or Picture posts based on actors, VMs posts based on the show and commenting on them.

Still there is something missing. What is it?

The missing element is the decline in the number of new posts. I will get to that in a minute.

The show related new posts have almost come to a standstill.

This forum was created to discuss about the show, characters, story, what we liked, what we disliked etc,. If there is nothing to discuss about, then there is no point in leaving the forum open, right?

Let me reiterate, Forum closure does not mean we lose topics or stories or our own comments. They will be locked, but, remain open for reading. Once closed, we will not be able to add any new content to the forum.

As long as we create new posts based on the show, we can request admin to keep this corner open.

It is up to us, I mean every single one of us, to contribute in this endeavor.🤗

Being silent is definitely not going to help. We all need to help each other and express our interest in the forum.🤗

Like, comment, discuss and post new topics. If you feel comfortable, get a friend or two and run a topic together.

Keep those FF discussions going here. They are an integral part of this forum.

Put your thinking caps on, write One Shots, Drabbles and post them on special occasions.

Please, don’t stop asking questions about the show. We need them coming.

Please contribute in any way you can if you want to keep visiting this place.

Now let us get to some Statistics, shall we?

So much happens at the background and we don’t even have a clue about it.

Give the admin and moderators a big round of applause.👏👏👏

Do, you know IF deletes plagiarized topics from the forum and ban those members?

After deleting banned topics, moving FFs to Fan Fictions and to New Fan Fictions section we are left with 9262 pages of topics in the main IPKKND forum.

In those 9262 pages, we posted 185228 Topics/Threads and 5143286 Posts/Comments. That looks like a big achievement. But when did we post them, is the question.

Statistics were taken from the inception of the show in June 2011 to 16 Sep 2020. The numbers I gave are the number of pages. So, if you multiply that number with 20, you will get topic count per year.

Topics in the pages of the first two lines were created when the show was on air. So, let us not worry about them.

If you look at the numbers from third line, you know how the interest has dwindled down.

Jun 11 - Sep 12 5676

Sep 12 - Sep 13 2774

Sep 13 - Sep 14 409

Sep 14 - Sep 15 113

Sep 15 - Sep 16 119

Sep 16 - Sep 17 65

Sep 17 - Sep 18 49

Sep 18 - Sep 19 36

Sep 19 - Sep 20 21

Sep 20 - Sept 21 27

To bring this number up and maintain that number every year is our goal.

Can we all count on each other?

Have a nice day!

Cheers……..

The forum may not return to its former glory during its peak, but we can definitely come together to keep it alive and thriving. ❤️

I have now made it a mission to come on here and stay active as much as I can in between daily life, and I can't wait for all the writing, analyzing, discussing and fangirling we still have yet to do! 🤗

I agree! It is not possible to take it to its former glory, but, we can certainly come together to keep it going. Thank you!

Thanks for the stats.

My view here.

The show completed years back. And honestly, as a viewer I don't have much to discuss - so have not created new posts. It's been like I have discussed things over and over again. I came to a point where I ran out of topics to discuss on the show. If the show was running, there is enough content for discussion but how can I keep talking about the same thing again and again?

So, you may ask if am I ready to close the forum? Well, I expected this moment a couple of years back. There is no activity here except for FFS (even some of them moved to Wattpad). For memes and vms, people are using other social media platforms.

Just like every one here when forum closure is announced, I was nostalgic and I decided to help in reviving the forum by making new threads but is it the right way? We are forcing new posts to save the forum and not because we genuinely felt to post them.

Let me share my own experience. I joined the forum in 2014. I drafted all parts of my Anjali Analysis post and kept it in my laptop for couple of years, thinking, 1. It looks silly to post something about a show which ended 2 or 3 years ago, 2. Will people like it because the post shows Anjali in poor light?

So, you see, I had something to say, but, felt apprehensive. In the same post I said I will discuss about Arnav and Khushi, but could not get there. But, I was actively participating on the forum.

If you read FFs, the discussions sometimes veer towards the show, characters and actors. Suddenly everyone starts discussing about the show. Questions arise and answers produced with evidence.

The bottom line is, discussions are happening but, not on the forum.

Some fans still don't know Payal is not Garima's biological daughter, though it was mentioned in the show.

People are still writing show based stories.

This is a good time for people who were not part of original discussions to say something. To share their thoughts and to say what is in their minds. I am one of them.😊

Cheers......

@ Savera Thank you for posting these statistics. We really needed them to get some clarity on what we need to aim for. So thanks for all the efforts you have taken to go through the forum pages and get this data. ⭐️

@ HerFiction I understand what you're saying but here's my PoV.

Yes, everything has been said and discussed already, so why to go around rehashing the same things over and over again? Infact, this is the reason I decided to drop out on writing a simple Written update in my episode analysis and will instead link the older one itself. But I think (and hope) that the character analysis was never done in this manner for every episode. So we do have something new there too.

About discussing the same topics again, I think that is inevitable - we know it is going to happen. But then, the people we are discussing it with are new aren't they? And we ourselves have changed over the years - Now I don't have the same view for some of the things in the show as I did back when it was airing. I've changed, my perspective has changed too. And the people and atmosphere has changed - now we have a much more stable and mature fandom as compared to the passionate but volatile one of the olden days.

Apart from this, there are things that I notice when rewatching even though I've seen the episodes so many times before. And few of the observations came from reading others' posts while I had missed them completely

Eg. Did you know that the lady who plays the canteen wali aunty in the office track has played 2-3 different background roles in the entire show. This was a slightly funny but very keen observation I found by reading someone's post. Even after watching so many times, I hadn't noticed this!

So I believe there will always be something new to discover, something new to discuss and a new point of view to hear. That is why some books / movies / shows are considered classics, right? Because they inspire passionate discussions even years after they have ended.

And there will always be new edits, VMs and stories coming up. You're right, there are other platforms for them so why do we need the forum? Well, which is why we've requested for volunteers to act as mediators between the different platforms - read it in the third post here.

Because IPK fans are many even today. But they are spread out over so many different platforms that it's difficult to track things going on everywhere.

Eg. I read a color analysis post by ItsRain now but she has mentioned that it was posted on her Tumblr earlier. I would have missed out on such a good post if it hadn't been reposted over here currently.

So what we need is a central base - which IF can act as - so that activities going on everywhere can be synced together. And we don't miss out on wonderful posts by people just because we don't use that particular social media / don't follow that specific person. By integrating things, we will be able to access everything related to IPK - old and new, whichever platform it is posted on, and by whomever it is done.

I know this won't be an easy job but I'm willing to put in my efforts for this. And I believe that together we all can do this. I truly hope you can see things from this perspective and continue being a part of this ❤️.

Love,

Stuti

Yes you are right, I just felt I don't have anything new to contribute but would love to contribute if the new discussion happens. Yes, it is true, this is good time for people who were not part of original discussions.

Thanks @Savera84 for listing these statistics! You guys are doing a phenomenal job all of you to revive this forum <3 I agree that our IPKKND is a classic show & just like we keep on discussing a classic work of art or literature, various aspects of Arshi / IPKKND too will be discussed and debated by its viewers, fans for many more years from different / newer perspectives. IPKKND, Arnav Khushi will continue to intrigue us forever. Just when we think we have said or read almost everything on it, some fresh perspective may spring up! Quite a few details which we might not have noticed even after watching IPKKND umpteen times, we may start noticing & discussing in this forum. For example, here @ssttuuttii pointed out that the woman who had played Manju (in the AR Canteen) had also played the role of other background actors in the same show. I did not mark that earlier! Though we all knew that many side actors may play different roles in the same show - for example, the girl who was playing the role of a reporter in the fashion show in Episode 1 was also there in the last episode when Khushi was participating in the Mrs. India Contest. This way we can keep on discovering & re-discovering so many old and new things! Moreover, I have come across many new viewers too on other platforms who watched IPKKND for the first time in 2018 on Star Utsav (re-run of Rabba Ve on Star Utsav). They are there on Instagram & some may be on twitter or Facebook or Wattpad! Those new fans too may have many things to say now. Besides, during the lockdown I have seen many people binge watching original IPKKND on hotstar & many of them regularly used to update on twitter their takes on each of the episodes or scenes while they were binge watching! All of them can be encouraged to participate here. If there is a Facebook page & twitter account & Instagram account totally dedicated to promoting this IPKKND Forum, many new & old fans can join in. When IPKKND can be still discussed on other online platforms then why not continue the discussions here too? Let our love for IPKKND Arshi live forever, hamesha 😊❤️
