Both these movies are youth-oriented and commercial successes - Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani and Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. Both capture the flavour of youthful romance. However, which one acc. to you is more authentic and the better rom-com?

JTYJN is more relatable i think.Falling in love with college friends after college stops n u start missing him or her is very common.yjhd had its moments but how many has reconnected wih a schoold friend then lost him then again met him n fell in love?It showed Avi Aditi relation more relaistically I guess than Bunny Naina.Pre balam pichkari Naina is a very relatable character though
Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani has better diaolouges which has made more impact on me while JTYJN was more entertaining for me when I watched it but did not make a lasting impact like YJHD. So, I will go with YJHD ❤️
Ah, they were both so good. But YJHD has more repeat value I think. Also more quotable- shaadi is dal chawal for life, main udna chahta hoon etc. Also I feel like I connect more personally to this one. Always felt like a hybrid of Bunny and Naina. A mix of wanting to leave everything and see the world, but also craving home.

For studies or work? Try for a tier 2 visa if for work, you can always do like 2 years and come back. It’ll open a lot of opportunities for you. Although after 5 years, I think you can apply for indefinite leave if you find you like it.
YJHD is not a rom com....it's more like finding yourself in your life and your priorities...it falls mostly under adventure
JTYJN, it was fresh, breezy and simple entertainer. All characters had good role. And also the superhit song Pappu can't dance sala😆😆
YJHD was taking too many liberties and too many plots. Deepika wore glamourous clothes throughout and didn't fit the simple Jane look.

Great question. Love both films and very difficult to choose so excuse the long essay.
I would say JTYJN is by far the more authentic film as the characters are less filmy and more girl/boy next door. The characters seem extremely rooted in reality and you actually believe their chemistry as old friends who go way back. Even side character like Imran's mother and the villainous police officer are well written and add to the film. The romance is incredibly sweet and it's a very, very well plotted and tight story which is narrated to hilarious effect by Jai and Aditi's friends.
By contrast, YJHD is more filmy, Bunny and Naina are the millennial versions of the Raj and Simran archetypes. Although the characters are likable, they are not like real people at all. The story is also looser- the first half set in Manali almost has no structure and the second half has a lot packed in- we cover the wedding, Bunny's career highs and lows, Kalki's side story, ARK's story and Bunny and Naina falling in love. The film in the absence of a tight plot however still works because it conveys that certain feeling of youth exceedingly well- the restlessness, the pain and the inevitable growing up that both characters eventually go through.
However I am ashamed to say that while JTYJN is imo the more youthful and technically superior film- (it's also endlessly watchable, I watch it atleast once every year)- I do prefer YJHD. I cant explain it but I think it's down to RK and Deepika's really superior and charismatic performances which Jaane Tuu does not have in Imran and Genelia's patchy acting. Yeh Jawaani also has a strong'feeling' or nostalgia that it evokes, which leaves a bigger impact once you're done.
But that's what I think. Dont come at me lol 😂
