Very nice topic Hina..thought provoking and very interesting....I think the change comes gradually and some times films made on such subjects do help...

I feel Ek hi Rasta --BR chopra's first ever self banner movie on widow remarriage and countless other BW films on horrors society like rehabilitation of women after partition or dowry etc..eventually helped to lift Indian women along with better education and changing world overall...though it is still along road to safety....

I think the drams do help narratives over time but only if done right.I felt in Ruswaai the aftermath of gang rape and effect on relationships was shown very nicely..it even reflected on evils of watta satta

I also liked kankar showing martial abuse and how it can just destroy someone......

some of recent dramas are way too dramatized and sick for my taste.Sometimes they deviate from their key message and become gharelu kitchen politics....Even Sabaat with annaya's plot has good messaging, but it faulted so much with Sara's story,it became stipid there..

I think Darr Khuda Say should have not even been promoted as a social issue like it was before it started. It was stretched like chewing gum... and then it literally lost the concept few episodes in. It became more about marraige drama and Sana being blamed for everything in the world. It was a decent family drama, but in terms of social issues it was a big flop. I wish they actually would make a proper series on workplace harassment to highlight it in our society with no melodrama.

DKS messed up with the topic. I had gr8 expectations from it specially that it came after ADKKKH which touched the topic in a different way, but didn't do justice to it.. so I thought maybe this time the writer will highlight it in a better way.. but alas. I too hope they make another drama on this topic .

DKS is just one example of how unjustice dramas do to some social issues, by dropping them to the background , and continue with the typical family politics.😔 In IZN too they used acid attack as a mere incident. The same happened in Deedan where the forced marriage and the marital rape were sidelined and the drama took a different way completely in the second half.😕

I agree people discuss it on social media but does it have any effect on peoples personal lives? How many people have you seen who have stopped beating their wives after watching a drama about it or even stopped raping?

I wasn't talking about the change in the mentality of men .. I was talking about the victims. They see and learn how to react in such situations, learn to stand up for themselves, and find a solution. I know it is difficult. But ppl started addressing many social issues, and laws that protect the victims in such cases.😊

A drama can educate you but it cant change your mentality or nature

I hope it does. World now is more open. Few years ago none dared to talk about taboos . Now we have many.😊

I wish it would help improve our society and make women more stronger but sadly the people I see around me are still the same. Some people are just too stubborn and egoistic to accept that they are wrong.

What can victims do? Even if they want to get strength after seeing such stories, they are unable to because of the people around them saying oh its just a drama dont take it so seriously

Thats what i have always seen

Social issues must be addressed , at the same time , the treatment and execution is also imp. We watch dramas to get entertained,if we get depressed , then how will the victims feel ? Will it give strength to them ? In all the dramas I have seen so far, circumstances change in the favour of oppressed and justice is served. Thereby suggesting that one day the oppressor will be punished by god . Does that happen in real life ?the wait may be endless . The life doesnt end in 24 epis.

What they really need to show is , women taking a stand for their education ...like it was shown in suno chanda..... and how positively her husband and her family supports her . Another example is kashaf from zgh. After marriage also she continued to work , earn for herself , helped her mother, and she didnt take any help from her husband and the husband also was a self made man. So these stories r really inspiring plus they are entertaining and written perfectly.

We may not agree to her approach but shehwar was an inspiring character for all the housewives. Point is she achieved what she aimed for and made peace with it. She brought the change in her life by her attitude . Khirad was an inspiring character..daneen was an inspiring character.. girls who did something to change the situation around them. Women from suno yaara , all of them were written well ..normal women who we can relate to..zubiya from yakeen ka safar..she is a tormented soul , yet she rises ..her journey was fantastic . Even ayeza s character in koi chand rakh.

How women tackles the problems in her life be it career or husband or in laws or children is mostly shown in the dramas ( which is shown fairly well I think ) but again , it's mostly depending on "one day things will improve for me ".. Generally women r either bitching types or totally ott Angels, both kinds r extremes...

A very wrong way of passing a message through dramas..shows like..mere pass tum.ho..ishquia...deewangi ...jalan...mta..for eg mere paas tum.ho. a wife cheats on her husband . Big deal ho gaya na emotional story dikha diya. Why kill the husband for no reason ? Punish the wrong doers along with that make the innocent suffer so much that they die or end up in asylum ? Deewangi....bewafa khud hai hero, bole jaa raha hI heroine ko bewafa. Ishquia was all about what not to do in a relationship yet they glorified all the wrong actions in the name of empowerment. In the end viewers were left confused as to what was the social message which they wanted to give.
