this isn't a philosophy debate where there are numerous interpretations or answers of perspectives. What's she engaging in are concrete neuroscientific and medical topics. And there IS a right and wrong answer. You can't DEBATE or interpret that unless you're bringing up scientific primary research articles, NOT "I have taken private tuitions and built a model of brain in school". She's just arguing foolishly at this point.

Not necessarily, that is your opinion on the matter. She is debating on the diagnostic methods applied to identify mental illness and there is nothing wrong in sharing a perspective based on how much you know on the matter.

Again, if it is foolish, she will be trolled and offered counter-arguments and trolled anyway but should that stop one from coming forward and sharing what they think they know on the subject matter or issues on her own twitter handle where is allowed to.

My answer is NO, it should not stop you.

Knowledge is self-cultivated and broad, not limited to a single discipline.

No, I will not argue with a doctor about that, the same way I won't argue with a mechanic about his diagnosis of the problem in my car part. It does not mean that it is wrong for me to argue with a doctor or a mechanic. Or question their diagnosis by asking their rationale.

You sound like a gatekeeper, like those cringy people who gate keep classical music by claiming to have a greater 'knowledge' of it.

degrees DO represent knowledge. An MD degree is my medical education acquired. My TRAINING is residency that occurs after degree.

As for using your point about lancet, then bring up the lancet or a medical journal as your source. She didn't do that either did she?

So neither does she have the degree or educational background, nor does she seem to be those enlightened few who have self cultivated and know which sources to use.

Yes I do get triggered when people who have not spent 11 years studying medicine challenge me or argue with me me after reading webmd. Note. Not ASK me, but argue. Which is what Kangana is doing to this woman who has obviously spent YEARS of her life studying this topic .

Having a science student who is an 11th standard passout diagnose one of our family members instead of an actual doctor next time they fall ill? Or better yet, have Kangana take counselling lessons for those undergoing mental health and depression? She did make a model of a brain after all.

What a ridiculous position for her to take and defend. Education doesnt only mean degrees and universities but it also means having the wisdom and self awareness to know the limits of your knowledge. This woman is a joke.

But hey, why dont we ask her to work on the cure for COVID? She did study science unlike the dimwits of Bollywood that she desperately craves approval and attention from (why is Hrithik so hostile??!!)

Why not? As per you, a person needs a qualification to question experts? By that rationale, we should stop judging acting on this forum cuz most of us don't have the qualification for that.

You think a person debating with a doctor is equivalent to them giving medical care to patients? If so, you need more education I think. Not Kangana.

I see your point but I don't see the need to be hostile. Repaying hostility with hostility is not gonna accomplish anything.

If people question you, isn't it better to respond to them civilly and explain to them why they are wrong (with supporting evidence) rather than shoot them down condescendingly? I don't think having a degree exempts anyone from being questioned. Doesn't matter what level of formal education the questioner has.

A person who studied years of their life in a topic can also be wrong. Let's not forget that.

Let's agree to disagree on the knowledge point. I think of knowledge as something to be self-acquired, not from schooling or gained from a centralised curriculum.

Why should one talk only if you have knowledge on the matter, that is such a wrong trait to teach. I would encourage everyone to share their thoughts based on what they know on the matter. That is like telling a backbencher to not open their mouth coz they don't know the answer, telling a clerk to not voice his thoughts on office matter.

That is a wrong way Togo in my opinion

I am sure you are not new to the forum this is how the forum works tinaji When Bhai's film flops SRK fans opens the thread. I would be the 1st in line to post anti-Deepika thread to bash her when I was active and I don't like her at all so haters opening a thread shouldn't be amusing to you ye toh hamara janam sidh adhikaar hai 😆

Oh I find it amusing, bcoz on one hand, they call her attention seeker who does it for attention, but who gives her attention, by posting her every tweet , the very people who hate her "attention seeking".

This really amuses me, coz I as a fan do not post so much about her as her haters. I guess that says a lot, also the fact that most of the forum runs with her posts.

But please continue, its interesting and fascinating

Staaap bashing! She discovered about gravity back in those revolutionary newton's days. Do you remember, apple fell off from tree and then newton's big brain thought, why it never goes up. I tell you, kangana was that iconic apple and she deliberately fell off, to taught us and newton about gravity.

Is simple comprehension also a problem for you? I said her diagnoses on the internet on topics only an expert should be addressing is ridiculous. She is trying to pass herself off as an authority on a specialized body of knowledge.

Then I ironically asked if you can accept her "expertise" - what's next- treatment by her- why not if she knows so much?

Her presumptions are ridiculous and would be laughed out by any serious professional. But continue defending your idol and willfully misunderstanding arguments that prove her wrong. I still havent received an answer on her hypocrisy at shitting on Deepika for the same reason. But then again, logic and KR's selfish motives are far apart.

Thankfully my level of education and professional knowledge is not derived from unverified sources and OTT pseudo intellectualism on the internet unlike Ms Ranaut. I busted my ass in my profession based "on merit" and I sure as hell wont tolerate half witted actresses insulting other doctors who did the same.

You sound like a gatekeeper, like those cringy people who gate keep classical music by claiming to have a greater 'knowledge' of it.

In the age of the internet it has become “normal” for people to dismiss experts. I have lost count of the number of times a patient has said to me, “I read a lot about this on the internet,” typically immediately prior to suggesting something outlandish. That’s okay as long as they understand I am the one with the training and experience and recognize their limitations.

That is where it gets tricky. The vast majority of people don’t recognize their limitations - a well established repeatedly tested psychological fact. Most people overestimate their own competence. Ironically people tend to overestimate more the less they actually know.

Most people get their internet medical “degrees” from news stories based on press releases of published studies - frequently the stories get the basics wrong or skew them.

Even if someone is genuinely reading Lancet articles (having read many I can’t imagine a sane lay person reading any all the way through 😆), does that person have the background knowledge to be able to analyze the quality of the article? I will tell you honestly many of the residents I train, do not. Many private practice physicians do not. Plenty PLENTY of rubbish gets published - even in the big journals.

There is nothing, absolutely nothing ,in the accomplishments Kangana herself listed which make her likely to be able to diagnose or exclude bipolar disorder (her private psychology tuitions over 2 years sounds an awful lot like therapy sessions.) But she speaks confidently as if she is capable. I do know most of her twitter following isnt real but for any that are that IS dangerous. This is not a woman saying, I read about X and here’s what I think about it. This is a woman over several days several times saying, I definitely know no one including this man (I never met) has mental illness because there is no proof mental illness exists. That is dangerously wrong.
