I am Bengali girl living in north India. I have been called

1. A witch practicing black magic.

2. Seductress

3. Schedule caste and schedule tribe for being non vegetarian.

The first and third comment came largely from vegetarian trader community of north India.

The second comment came from Bengali women and girls who felt any girl can steal their husbands, boyfriend and sons.

Why can't people get over stereotyping.

If someone is vile that person will be vile even if that person is from north, south, east or west.

Every community has stereotypes about another community.

Bengalis think all we Nepalis do is drink like camel, have kids like rabbits, elope at 14, never finish our studies, foul mouth, fight over petty issues, never save and waste money and so on and on. Although thinking seriously, damn most of these stereotypes apply to me, well except cooler stuff like eloping at 14, having sex to get babies like rabbits and never finishing studies.

And I don't want to talk stereotypes Nepalis have for Bengalis, given the forum army of Bengalis 😂, don't want to get 40%😂

And not to forget how stereotyped Biharis .. Punjabis.. Tamilians.. Malayalis all communities are. I dont want to come up with what I have been called or my culture or for that matter the ritualistic practices we have , have been called and mocked for... because I understand each culture is stereotyped, judged, prejudiced upon. I have issues when educated members of elite profession(media), who are the flag bearers of impartiality , fairness and awareness come up with such articles, where in order to point out the wrong done to one culture they have no qualms in demeaning the other culture. I hope we all learn to respect the diversity this country has had for ages..

No religion or caste should be prejudiced against. No one chooses which cast or religion they're born into.
