@Bold

How even this is a fair argument?

Here again, Kuhu assumes that Mishti doesn't have to struggle - but that is not true!!

Kuhu and Mishti both have had their share of struggles. But blaming Mishti based on her assumption that she didn't have to struggle is still conveying the same thing as the OTT dialogues in the episode.

Kuhu's disappointment yesterday was valid. But her measure of her own happiness is always in comparison with Mishti's and that has been like that from day 1 of the show. There is nothing new in that.

I think both Kuhu and Mishti both had their struggles and they overcome well. Kuhu is looking for priority and recognition from her family. Sometimes disappointment too play a huge role and people learn to move on. Kuhu needs to move on from her disappointment and she is not doing till now. Well Mishti gets her priority after struggle and she is happy about it. I believe that Kuhu and Mishti cant live together under same roof but writer main story is rivalry between sisters so its going to be repetitive for sometime and its very boring too.

I think they are trying to push this down our throats that Kuhu IS a negative person and this character will always be used to glorify the leads. What made us like her and what is making us support her even now? I hate that we have come to a point where we make up our own version of dialogues (less OTT). Whom are we fooling? Nothing is gonna change. They cannot play around with gray characters - everything is black or white..

Agreed, Nami! And it also goes back to what I'm extremely bored of seeing on ITV, which are FLs that are a reflection of what society wants women to be. I want to see more FLs that are a reflection of what I see myself and the women around me as, and I want to see them being made relatable. I want to see imperfection being reflected as the new kind of perfect. But that would involve the proper handling of grey characterization, which I think is just too much to expect from this show at least.

great post Meera

I have a long list of how cvs have tried to decieve & misguide the viewers but I will restrict to the major ones:

1) Kuhu pushed Mishti on janmashtami but why did cvs choose to write that scene where Kuhu loses it

because the lead is Mishti & Kuhu has just been decieved in her marriage, so her #fairytale turned into #nightmare and she is crying when alone but putting a brave face in front of her both families, maayka & sasural, meanwhile also giving it back to Kunal the supposed villian of the show at that point of time

and Mishti on the other hand is having a very supportive boyfriend and a blooming love story

all this could lead to a very high chance of having viewers favouritism & symapathy shift to Kuhu from Mishti

so make her harm Mishti & maintain status quo

2) Kunal mixes alcohol in Nannu's drink but at last moment refrains from serving him that drink

Kuhu takes sleeping pills in her hand but at last moment realises its a crime & refrains from mixing those in coffee

but in both situation Mishti becomes the agency at last

her unintentional push to kuhu makes the pills fall in the coffee

she unknowingly gives Nannu the wrong drink

but writers do not address this at all & leave the viewers justifying to themselves with 'intention over action' excuse

though the cameraman does his part with extra zooming & close up shots

3) Mishti's galtiyan are unintentional or galti se is made an acceptable fact in the show, but Kuhu's galtiyan, demands are labelled as immature, selfish, bratty and made to be called out by everyone in the show

full usage of perspective, point of view but from only a particular angle

4) Kuhu's mandap demand on her 2nd wedding is clearly shown to viewers as being selfish & unreasonable

Mishti comes out with better solution of having a mandap at the rooftop of the bus, but at the time of pheras they realise there isnt enough space for it, but Abir covers-up & picks her up & take pheras, and in bts it was clearly mentioned how difficult it was to shoot but in the show it goes unaddressed

and to the extent that BP-BM dont get to do the kanyadaan, but it is left unaddressed because it highlights Mishti's short-sightedness while choosing the mandap

so ofcourse #manipulative writing ki jai ho because thats the underlying & basic theme of what this show stands on!!

I get the disappointment. I get that the dialogues are OTT. But even when you wrote your revised dialogues, you included Mishti in that, so that's obviously in character. That's what I have trouble with. For Kuhu to be truly happy, she needs to leave off that comparison with another person - what they get, how they get it - all of that is irrelevant to her happiness, or should be. I get that people can sometimes get envious of others' good fortune, but doing that doesn't hurt the other person as much as it hurts you.

from my understanding they all have fatal flaws or blindspot:

Kuhu: Mishti or jealousy & insecurities wrt Mishti (kuku fans named it #mishtimania)

Kunal: Abir or his love/possessiveness for Abir (kuku fans named it #bhaiyopia)

Mishti: unintentionally or galti se mistake when she wants to help

Abir: opposing & doubting Meenu everytime

so Kuhu has unaddressed resentment & insurities wrt to Mishti & whenever she tries to voice them out she is being asked to brush them aside, grow-up etc., instead of being heard & then guided & reassured

(rather than being gifted a new expensive latest phone because her phone broke & BM wants Kunal's rishta to be considered for Mishti after Meenu proposes risht-swap inspite of kuhu being hurt by that rejection)

and tbh thats what kuku fans wanted kunal to do as his redemption after their 2nd wedding, because thats exactly what kuhu did when he was suffering from '#sab Mishti ki wajah se' during their 1st marriage

also Mishti has a strong support system, she is literally covered & cocooned by Abir, BP-BM, Parul and now even supported by Maama, Kunal, Jugnu

but Kuhu has Kunal as her husband who is workaholic, is most of the times #cluelesschokro, Varsha-Shaurya who have to seek BP-BM's approval/consent in almost everything since they are the elders in Maheshwari house, Jasmeet who is always brushed-off & has no stance at Maheshwaris, Nidhi maami who is labelled dumb & made fun of at RJVs

so mostly all powerful & decision-makers of both families are Mishti supporters & that could be enough to fan Kuhu's insecurities wrt Mishti, add to it all her past experiences in bachpan where Mishti gets chosen/preference over Kuhu

Great analysis wrt Kuhu’s character.

The problem with this show/writers is that they cant write grey characters. As nami and others have mentioned- characters in most ITV shows can be either white or black. There is no in between. FL is always/mostly “perfect/right”, other characters including ML will keep wavering between different degrees of black and white as per convenience/TRPs.

Kuhu minus the forced OTTness is very relatable. Her insecurities wont vanish unless properly addressed over time. They are very deep rooted but instead of a proper redressal, writers will use it for their high voltage drama.

I understand. But does she recognize and appreciate it when she does get it?

If we take an example of their sasuraal:

Kuhu got accepted in her sasuraal from day 1 and got appreciation from Mami, Abir, Naanu, Parul with Kuhu teacher is the best, Bro and her Kuhuness are amazing, Hamari Kuhu hai hi itni pyaari and what not - even before she had a chance to do anything as a DIL.

Mishti never got accepted in the same sauraal and is being taunted left, right and center from day 1 till now, including by Kuhu herself. Everything that Mishti does or say is questioned by most of the family, she is treated as an outside and is easily dismissed as someone who is not really a part of the family.

Does Kuhu really appreciate the recognition that she is getting in her sasuraal? That too above and beyond what Mishti does!

Instead, all the love, affection and appreciation that she gets by everyone is forgotten in a second if someone says something even remotely good about Mishti! Kuhu's appreciation of what she has is quite transient and vanishes the moment Mishti comes in the picture.

So again my point is, until Kuhu learns to focus on her own happiness, truly recognize and appreciate what she has, irrespective of what Mishti does, she is going to remain sour and can't be happy.

Yeah, I agree sisters rivalry does get repetitive and boring at times. But I am able to tolerate it better than when they show goody-goody scenes between them like the last couple of episode - that just looks fake to me!

I think that she does appreciate her sasural for their appreciation. She is very involved in all their household works, helps Ketki and considers her as her small sister, never ever tried to hurt anyone for Kunal fake marriage, even helped Abir in many instances. She gave the same love back to their family as she receives it. I agree that it vanishes when Mishti comes to picture. Hopefully she learns soon about her own happiness without competition with Mishti. I can tolerate their cordial behavior than goody-goody or rivalry scenes.

As the topic maker mentioned, it is all part of manipulative writing. They write similar sequences for the two where they show Kuhu not being appreciative and Mishti being appreciative of the same thing to drive the difference home because they are unable to make Mishti likeable without putting Kuhu down. If they were able to do that, they wouldn't keep giving Kuhu OTT dialogues and make her look petty when she could very well be justified for being sad and angry in those situations.

Meera!!!!!

TTHANK YOU!!! I know we have all discussed this manipulative writing in the KuKu AT and off of IF quite a few times but none of us ever addressed it separately so thank you for doing that.

Each and every word of your post is so so right!!!

Quoting @peacenfun's post here because you mentioned the few examples and I wish I could frame them somewhere on this forum. And thank you for covering the issue of the Janmashtami thing because people use it left, right and centre for defending Mishti, and completely ignore the fact that it was put in there for the sole reason that the audience don't sympathise with Kuhu over Mishti even when she deserves it.

I don't know whether you guys have watched yrkkh or not but even there the cvs use the supporting characters to bring twists n turns in the storyline. In each track one or the other supporting character is butchered to create drama n same thing is happening here as well..They even went to the extent of butchering their leads for the sake of drama toh supporting characters kya cheez hai. In RS shows there r no plain white or black characters, they are all pendulum who change their colours according to the tracks. .. Here in this show, there r mainly 5 characters n therefore these 5 characters r used to create drama, the other supporting characters don't have much to do n they can't offer anything much to the storyline that's y kuhu n meenu are always used to create drama.. It's the cvs fault if they want they can bring up good content with respect to all these relationships but no they are only stuck at one point and they don't want to move ahead

There was a time when the show was mostly about mishbir n kunal but the cvs took a 360 degree turn n now the show is all about mishbir n kuhu, kunal is nowhere in the picture.
