Well, exactly my point. 'Because it was everywhere' you watched it. It was like talked about, even amidst negativity.
As for myself, I watched Khuda Haafiz trailer, didn't like it bcoz of the content and liked Gunjan Saxena's trailer that's why I watched it.
The point is, to make an informed decision audience needs to be aware. And that awareness is controlled by the media, publicity, PR. I am aware of this nexus, hence try to watch every trailer before making a decision.
Marketing and publicity contribute in a big way to attract eyeballs but audience interest also equally rounds out that equation. Take Saif-Kareena's recent baby announcement. It was a simple announcement similar to many other actors recently (Neha, Kalki, Arjun etc) but only theirs has spawned off massive social media activity around it. People are just far more interested in them. Obviously a baby announcement isn't a film but the analogy still applies...audiences have talked so much about Sadak 2 or Gunjan due to various controversies that the awareness of those films has naturally increased. It's ironic that these "boycott" campaigns may have actually led to people watching the films. This is the same way small budget films become sleeper hits- some people watch them and love it so word of mouth spreads. Basically we need to be more vocal about the content or talent we support so that it reaches more creators and viewers.
I said long ago, these anti-Bollywood charade isn't gonna last. By the time 2020 ends, people will move on. When the theaters open, the same people boycotting will flock to watch first.
& honestly that's how it should be. Just because of nepotism or an actor's suicide, why should people boycott Bollywood in whole? Nepotism exists everywhere, then people should also boycott looking for jobs, going to school & etc.
There's no way to end nepotism. I don't even care for nepotism as long as the nepo kids are talented like Ranbir, Alia, Kareena etc. The public should support quality cinema & talented stars, be it nepo kids or outsiders. That's all i hope for.

On Contrary, I feel Kareena's announcement wasn't received with much response as it was with her first pregnancy. Maybe people are too occupied with Sushant case or they are genuinely detached. I have followed Kareena's life developments keenly but I am put off, have just sense of resentment towards her n her antics. Same goes for SRK, Salman, Akshay etc.... Maybe it will subside bz ultimately good movie is good movie but I won't have respect for them anymore , not that I had it before, but now i feel disgust looking at them.
First of all.. Its not n anti bollywood sentiment.. Its against what people find problematic in bollywood.. And the very reason it resonates with so many people is that we love bollywood
Entertainment? I couldnt make myself watch even one of the trailers. Just couldn't.
This boycott bollywood thing won’t last long
Once this pandemic is over we will run back to theatres

That's what it should be, among sane and rational people.
But I'm afraid the narrative has been hijacked by so many, who hate Bollywood and all that it stands for - inclusiveness, regional plurality, unity in diversity etc.

Sorry to but in but I feel that with her first pregnancy there was also this buzz because it was for the first time and there were all these rumours and people were noticing her changes in public. This time offcourse people are busy with sushant's case but this news came out of the blue. I feel like she revealed it a bit early as she only started to look a bit chubby. Also people are against nepotism as they can see how it can be used unfairly so are against another star kid who will hog all the limelight.
