I guess it's a common thing in the industry. Neena felt Masaba won't make it as an actor because the audience won't accept a black woman. She was probably trying to save her from future pain. Anil Kapoor didn't want Rhea to try acting either because she was apparently too ugly.

Good for Masaba that now there are platforms like Netflix which don't mind unconventional looks.

I remember watching an interview of Neena Gupta where she mentioned that she had to condition Masaba from a young age that acting and showbiz shouldn't be her goal or dream because the Indian audience or industry would never accept her for her unconventional looks. She looks like a natural though.

Neena was right, but gotta say though, she is a natural on-screen, no awkwardness or stumbling.

Masaba is a treat to watch. She should try acting at international level considering her exotic looks and personality. Her acting skills look great.
