Ok, I agree with your reasoning. But then, in Anu's case they have shown the reason why he did it and even in Anu's case, I had made a post on my assumptions on why he did it even before makers revealed it, which fortunately or unfortunately happened to be similar.

How can prerna become kukki father? Why should she, seeing that kukki father is right there?

And next, how does prerna and her motherhood or love become less in anyway if Bajaj is an attentive and affectionate father?

We are not talking about chores like going to parents teachers meetings or play dates here, for Bajaj to say he has "handed over" his responsibility to prerna.
