It's only leading to more suicides as we have seen recently.

After his suicide, Sushant has suddently become the most handsome, innocent, greatest actor ever.

When he was alive, he was just another actor (just read his movie reviews thread in here or the threads about him in here). Now, that he is dead, his movie trailers get the most likes and the best ratings. In the news they talk like he was one of the greatest actors, human being, etc.

Many are using him for ratings/money like Arnab, Kangana, Payal Rohatgi, etc. They have all become investigators to get ratings. Acting like they are filming a crime patrol episode and the audiences are eating their crap and giving them ratings/money.

What you're talking about is, is called the "The werther effect" .

In social sciences and in medicine, the term "Werther-effect" is used as a synonym for media induced imitation effects of suicidal behaviour.

This is unfortunately a real thing, which is why most countries have "Media Guidelines for Reporting on Suicide" but obviously not India. All these suicides happening especially among the TV Industry/Tik-Tok are certainly in some form inspired by the SSR Suicide. I'm kinda glad murder is an option tbh, it might help curtail a little bit of this "Suicide Pandemic" if nothing else.

Copycat suicide is mostly blamed on the media. A study conducted in 2002 found evidence for "the influence of media on suicidal behaviour has been shown for newspaper and television reports of actual suicides, film and television portrayals of suicides, and suicide in literature, especially suicide manuals."[10] "Hearing about a suicide seems to make those who are vulnerable feel they have permission to do it," Phillips said. He cited studies that showed that people were more likely to engage in dangerous deviant behavior, such as drug taking, if someone else had set the example first.[3]

The Werther effect not only predicts an increase in suicide, but the majority of the suicides will take place in the same or a similar way as the one publicized. The more similar the person in the publicized suicide is to the people exposed to the information about it, the more likely the age group or demographic is to die by suicide. The increase generally happens only in areas where the suicide story was highly publicized.[5] Upon learning of someone else's suicide, some people decide that action may be appropriate for them as well, especially if the publicized suicide was of someone in a situation similar to their own.

Publishing the means of suicides, romanticized and sensationalized reporting—particularly about celebrities, suggestions that there is an epidemic, glorifying the deceased and simplifying the reasons all lead to increases in the suicide rate. People may see suicide as a glamorous ending, with the victim getting attention, sympathy, and concern that they never got in life. A second possible factor is that vulnerable youth may feel, "If they couldn't cut it, neither can I"

Who called it suicide yet ? The family confirmed they suspect murder.

The media trials are showing it as murder. Not sure how that can be a possible cause of more suicides when most of the General Public have ruled out the idea of suicide from his case.

His family and his family lawyer are saying that they suspect it to be a murder. So it's not about suicide. As for people praising Sushant, he really was a good person and people just feel upset about how he died so young.

I would expect you to not refer SSR's death as a case of suicide, now that the family has filed a case. Initially when the family was not saying it, we might have still continued to assume the same , but not anymore until this case is investigated properly. I hope we can consider that.

Regarding your other points I agree. We need to not glorify suicide, the need to get the acceptance and love, this might drive people to do so.

Have you heard the latest absurdity that Sushant invented a COVID patent worth millions? This is why a mysterious mafia bumped him off and went to the effort of hanging him to make it look like a suicide. Actual news channels are coming up with these fictional stories.😕

Geez, the stuff you get to read. Not a single post I’ve read is glorifying suicide. I’ve stumbled across blogs that actually talk about how great the afterlife must be with no pain, showcasing images of slit wrists and self-harm. This is not that. And while Indian media is not the best, this is still not that. This is a very global thing that happens everywhere in the world - the moment someone is no longer with us, we immortalise them and place them on a pedestal.

Frankly, SSR deserves it all. None of us knew him, but to most he genuinely seemed like a great guy. A rare gem in the filth that is Bollywood.

It's not the suicide that's being glorified. It's Sushant himself. Sushant just happens to be a genuinely good person who has a simple and endearing personality with a brilliant mind that most people are unfortunately discovering now. He's someone who's been misunderstood thanks to an image painted by the media which has caused regret to arise across the nation. I am one of those people. That loss feels so personal it's inexplicable. Plus the stories about Rhea/his friends fiddling with his mental health has caused people to want and fight for justice for this man, if there's more to the story.

I think we all know that not all people who are in the news for suicide get hailed like that. It's Sushant himself. And yes indeed, the media is milking it, whether it's for clicks or for their own agendas. Had people not been so outraged, the media probably wouldn't have bothered.

Besides, at this point, we don't even know if it's actually a suicide or a murder.

Sushant didn't invented suicide, seriously people at one bash others for coming up with absurd theories and than come up with stupid thoeries of their own that Sushant's suicide triggered almost all of the following suicides.

Also people aren't calling his death suicide they are calling it murder. So there is it, no glorifying suicide.
