its good but its regular udit narayan singing ...nothing outclass to gain a national award for it ...not stand near to classic like saathiya or mera rang de basanti ....

He won for Kal Ho Na Ho and Kal Ho Na Ho is a cult classic ,...the song deserved all the awards ....but Chote chote sapne was not upto a mark for national award or even not for filmfare...as he rightly said if udit narayan got it for devdas it would then be justified

Well if we are comparing to this, I would say then Sonu did not deserve for this song as the original track is sung by Hariharan from Alaipayuthe, movie by Mani Ratnam which was later on made in Hindi with almost the same songs.

Now coming to Sonu vs Udit that year, I would disagree on both coz there were many regional songs that deserved it more.

However if you compare Udit and Sonu that year, then Mere Rang de Basanti deserved more than Udit's song

Of course it’s not... I don’t know why some people hold it as some sort of holy grail, when literally all departments of govt are filled with corruption how is this award held on a diff standard. The fact that Saif got it got humtum when his mom was in the jury and akshay for rustom when he was the poster boy for ruling party , Says a lot.::

Hell even arjun rampal has one for rock on... so yea, their credibility is a bit shady...
