Salman has a solid fandom but Aamir is liked mostly by general audience. Dedicated fandoms hype a particular actor than general audience.

To be honest, I never get the real meaning of a star. I have always watched a movie because of acting and content, so, I never get these BO numbers and star thing. For me Aamir is more of a star than Salman. Salman isn't liked by many people because of his criminal records. Salman is famous in bad way too. He is more popular because he has been in news much more than any actor in my opinion.

He also hosts a show like BB which is very popular, that also makes him more popular.
