In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, director R. Balki opened up on the nepotism debate saying, hat it is a rather 'foolish argument' and he drew comparisons with other industries where nepotism is as prevalent as anywhere. He said, "It’s undeniable that this happens everywhere. Think about the Mahindras, Ambanis, Bajajs… Their father passed on the businesses to them. Does anyone say ‘No I don’t think Mukesh Ambani shouldn’t run this business, someone else should?’ In every strata of the society, it happens, even a driver or a vegetable seller passes on businesses to their children. So, it’s a foolish argument. Remember we live in a free society." He further added, "The question is do they (star kids) have an unfair or bigger advantage? Yes, there are pros and cons. But I’d ask one simple question:?Find me a better actor than Alia (Bhatt) or Ranbir (Kapoor), and we’ll argue. It’s unfair on these few people who’re probably some of the finest actors."

These comments have now been entirely slammed by writer Apurva Asrani and director Shekhar Kapur where they even provided a list to the claims. Asrani penned a list of actors where one of his tweets read, “Manoj Bajpayee, Rajkummar Rao, Vicky Kaushal, Ayushmann, Kangana Ranaut, Priyanka Chopra, Taapsee Pannu, Vidya Balan, Richa Chaddha. Many others too if we look beyond A list film families, and take a few chances. I love Ranbir & Alia, but please, they aren't the only good actors.” Another tweet read, “Pankaj Tripathi, Gajraj Rao, Amit Sadh, Jaideep Ahlawat, Rasika Dugal, Swara Bhaskar, Shweta Tripathi, Sanjay Mishra, Neena Gupta, Divya Dutta, Manav Kaul, Nawazuddin, Jeetu. My god, I could go on & on about the wonderful talents we have. Stop fussing over the same 3-4 names now!”

On the other hand, Kapur had a rather mellow way of saying it where he tweeted, “Have huge respect for you, Balki. But I just saw Kai Po Che again last night. Three new young actors at that time. And stunning believable performances by each @filmfare.”

I dont understand how his love life is seen as a crime? He is single and free to do what he wishes. Taylor Swift also had strings of lovers but it's her life. I don't understand why that's an issue?

Ranbir having lots of relationships isnt bad, it's how hes always portrayed as the bad guy which is not right. People bash him badly just by reading articles.

He's just another nepo kid who got everything easily, a dream debut which resulted in an disaster, an outsider would've be sent home packing after that debacle, but he's a Kapoor, so he will get as many undeserved opportunities as it takes for him to give a hit.

I'm not denying that likes of Alia and RK didn't get it easy. Of course they did but they're someone who actually worked hard and proved they deserve the chance. Even if RK was an outsider, I would have rooted for him despite his many flops because he is one of a kind actor (in my opinion). Same goes for Shahid, he is a fab actor and number of flops wont change that.

If you want to judge acting then flops or hits shouldnt matter. Btw RK had Bachena Ae Haseeno, Wake up Sid and Ajab prem after Sawariya (all hits) so I dont know why he wouldn't have survived after Sawariya. A lot of newcomers first films have flopped but then they go on to do well. Just see Amiyabh Bachan's filmography, his first movie failed and so did many after that but that didnt stop him from becoming Indias biggest star.

Yeah its easier for starkids but not all products of nepotism are bad.

That second of her mothers's face has more expressions than Alia. Alia always acts like how she behaves when she is hyper in real life. Talk fast in a screaming manner with flaring nose, just like a teenager throws tantrum. I dont even understand why was she awarded for that 15 min role of Gully Boy. Rani in Mardani2 and Priyanka in TSIP were far beyond her.

Bieber made two teenage black guys take blame for drugs possession when he was the one using them and Ariana cheated on Mac with her dancer and then milked his death to gain publicity and sympathy. Ariana supports woman abusers and was one of the rudest celebs to work with as confessed by actual staff members.

Taylor has been in relationship with her boyfriend Joe Alwyn for 4 years. The "baddest thing" she has written about her boyfriend is that John Mayer emotionally abused her at 19 years old which has been proved by 4 other women who confessed that John Mayer was not a healthy partner at all. The Weeknd, Ed Sheeran and countless other songwriters have written so many songs accusing their exes but no one bats an eyelid. Countless singers have sung truly despicable things about their exes which are rarely questioned by the gp and media but god forbid Taylor writes that she was cheated and emotionally abused at 19. Taylor writes about her life experiences and have written apology songs and songs painting her ex in good light like Back To December, Holy Ground, State of Grace, All Too Well, Last Kiss, Style, Out of the woods, Afterglow, Getaway Car, False God etc. She is one of the very few sane and unproblematic celebs in Hollywood.
