Bajaj isn't a saint. He is a human, made of good and bad. In the beginning of his track, he was an incredibly selfish man who couldn't see anything beyond his wants and desires. So when he loved Prerna, he loved her selfishly. Then, he wanted Prerna in his life and he was ready to do anything to get her back. So he took those photographs and had someone blackmail her. The matter of the photographs came up thrice in the show. The first and second time when Prerna confronted him, he lied to her and convinced her he had nothing to do with the photographs. The third time he himself payed Komolika to go and tell Prerna the truth of the photographs but Prerna didn't believe her. At this point Bajaj's character had grown from a selfish man to someone who could love her selflessly. He thought she was still in love with Anurag and wanted her to marry the man she loved. She didn't confront him.. Maybe he'd have told her the truth this time. But Prerna didn't want to know anymore. I like to imagine that at this point she didn't care because she was already in love with him and was determined to either win him back or live her life alone, without him. So the photographs wala plot point goes hand in hand with his character growth.

Now the matter of Madhavi.. The one night stand happened when RB was totally sloshed. He was so drunk and distressed that he thought he was with Prerna. And Madhavi, who by the way was stone cold sober, didn't correct his beliefs or stop him and slept with him. If that's not taking sexual advantage of a man, I don't know what is. So can the one night stand of dubious consent be counted as cheating? Did RB even cheat on Prerna when they had clearly broken up? It was not even like they were on a break or something. He had legitimately broken his engagement to her. That is not to say that RB shouldn't have told Prerna about it. He should have. And IMO filed a case of sexual assault against Madhavi while he was at it. But he didn't. And twenty years later, this came to bite him in his rear end. Maybe you can watch that track... when Prerna finds out and her reactions to that news and why she still chooses to stay with him.

So to answer your question, whatever you heard was indeed true. But if you see it with context, his actions weren't despicable at all.

When those photos resurfaced for the last time, the purpose was to complete the character arc. After planning the big revelation he freed himself from it.

Prerna, like you said, hardly bothered because she had fallen for the changed man.

Now when I revisit those episodes, I feel terribly upset seeing how Madhavi got away. Reverse the genders and an outrage will follow.

Yes.. Watching that episode made me rage. Madhavi had no right to do that. She doesn't even have any excuse. She knew he thought he was with Prerna. He wasn't in the position of knowing what he was doing, he was so drunk. Not to mention that he was completely distressed. And even if we don't reverse the gender, it's still completely wrong. Sexual assault can and does happen to men. And instead of booking Madhavi for her crime, the show somehow made it RB's fault. This part of the show is so, so problematic that I just can't! So many alarms went off in my head when I saw this episode.

I wish that Madhavi character wasn't brought in kasauti at all..

I didn't have an issue with the character. But, the ONS was just too random and forced. I think EK couldn't bear Mr Bajaj's perfect one woman man image.

Thnx for the info.But I just want to say something thogh zero knowledge about character or story.

Best redemption for me would be he himself went to prerna and tell her everything.it has to be her choice if she still want love that change men and all.By just plotting a person like komo to tell pre truth whom pre can never trust(I m saying this as I heard pre komo relation was same last season) is something I don't understand.

Anyways u watch that show and I have no idea about anything so won't say much anymore.Just this info disturb me as a person and I was thinking how can bjaj love prerna so much but still manage to hide such big secrets for 20 long years

perfect explanation Aparna, the character of RB goes with the story, no one will believe that a selfish ruthless RB would one day let go off Prerna .. but did she ? NO because she was already in love with him .. even if Prerna confronted the third time, I am sure she would have forgiven and accepted him with all his flaws
just like she did 20 years later when Madhavi's truth was out

the problem with the societal norms is if woman takes advt of a man who is in an inebriated state , the woman is not sued but then when the genders are interchanged hell brakes lose ..
I so dislike Madhavi for how she exploited RB sexually when he was not in his senses while she was completely aware of it .

I don't think anything could touch his one woman man ka image. Rishabh Bajaj lived and breathed for Prerna. And then became the air that sustains her.

But you're right. The stereotyping and regressive views take the joy out of old shows.
