You can't necessarily determine the box office but pretty sure Karan Johar can decide if its a good script/content or not? I mean even I can bet that a Rajkumar Hirani movie will be better content wise than a Ram Gopal Verma movie. Also, the branding of a movie makes a big difference too.
My point is that Alia Bhatt hasn't made a bad movie a hit yet. I don't see any films on her list where you scratch you head wondering how they became a hit. All her hit movies were great content and her bad content movies were unsuccessful.
This. Her performance in Kalank was utter crap too. And the reason she lucked out, because the nepotism forces overlooked Kalank and focused on gully boy which she won an award for a 10 min role. If this was anyone else, this would not happen. How you are portrayed my media outlets, social media sites matters and someone is definitely helping dismiss weaknesses on her part.
